Could there be a more selfish neighborhood in SF (maybe all of the country)? No yogurt! No late night pizza! No new housing! No!!! No!!! No more alcohol!!!! No street fair!!! What a joke. There is a crime, murder, homeless, trash, MUNI, housing, etc. problem in town. If these spoiled and selfish clowns looked around for once and focused even a quarter of that energy they waste on killing businesses and entertainment in this TOWN maybe we would actually be progressing and solving some problems here in SF.

PARKING! I live in the Excelsior (16yrs) and it's difficult to find parking on the street, especially after 5pm. I've counted a few addresses that have 3 or 4 vehicles and also, they can't park in their garage because: (a) all or part of garage converted to apt; and/or (b) can't accommodate a large truck. Some folks take up two parking spaces because they are reserving space for their other vehicles. For safety if I come home late I have to park in my driveway (my garage is used for storage) and big chance I'll get a $100 ticket. Sometimes Read more »

Mayor Newsom, the following information on drunk driving and negligent bars comes from Join Together, an alcohol and drug addiction policy organization:
Suspected drunk-drivers are being quizzed by New Jersey police about where they had their last drink as part of an effort to identify bars that may be habitually over serving customers, the New York Times reported Dec. 30.
The "last drink" initiative, instituted by the state Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, gathers information from police officers in a statewide database; regulators then use the information to better target investigations by state alcohol inspectors.

North bound traffic on Diamond should have at least TWO lanes, so autos can turn left without plugging up the intersection. The area to the right of the only lane is frequently used as an unofficial lane of traffic but it is actually a bus stop. City planners should look at moving the bus stop back so this space could be used as a real traffic lane. Right now, using this area as a lane is causing confusion and it's dangerous to pass cars to the right of a car. People have actually gotten tickets for doing this. Please help Read more »

I fully support getting people out of their cars as the mayor plans to intent. But as a resident, I have to drive here and the streets are getting progressively worse. With all the gas main and other work, we are creating more and more pot holes as the crews inadequately patch the problems they have created. Major corridors like Guerrero and Gough streets are becoming hard and even dangerous to drive. We are a world class city, but our streets don't show that.

Get rid of her please so the cops can be motivated to bust criminals again and actually obtain some suspects. I'm sorry but she is a joke. SF's murder and crime rates are on the rise while other WORLD CLASS cities like Chicago, LA, and NY are decreasing.

Read PETA's petition to the Zoo director-it is cruel to small space cage large cats. Also, ban circuses from SF County-The cruelty to animals in circuses is across the board!

I have lived in SF for over 25 years. I live in Russian Hill, a nice neighborhood. I have recently noticed how filthy our streets have become. I have taken to sweeping a portion of my block to eliminate the trash. I would love to see a campaign that encourages us to keep our streets litter free. I often remember seeing the merchants in Paris cleaning up before each mornings business

It has been reported that Mayor Newsom recently ridiculed former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani's advise on solving the homeless problem. Given the increasing numbers of homeless people in San Francisco despite the hundreds of millions being spent by the city, our mayor is in no position to ridicule the advise of a former mayor who brought the homeless problem under control in his city by providing shelter space to all NYC's homeless and not allowing them to sleep on the streets. Why Mayor Newsom has not followed this plan is a mystery.
Instead, our mayor devised a Read more »

Hi Mr. Mayor:
Feeding the hungry is fine, but what about fixing the streets in San Francisco. I have lived in the city for the greater part of 34 years and have never seen the streets in such states of disrepair. Streets like Bush Street from Presideo to Van Ness and Divisadero from Page to California are in terrible shape. These are just a few of the examples that can be cited for streets that need repayment as soon as possible. Fixing potholes after rains is not the answer as you well know.
Sincerely,

Mr Mayor,
On a scale of 1 to 10 fixing homelessness is 10, worrying about soda is -9999999.
Focus on the city's real problems please.
thanks,

You know and I know this a back door way of raising TAXES of the citizens of SF. The so called large grocery stores will simply pass this TAX onto the consumer.
This is stupid and underhanded...typical bleeding heart liberal.

As I write this (just after 5AM) they are collecting garbage on Taylor Street at Bush. They had a pretty good track record of collecting after 6AM for several months after I complained this past summer. At that time they had been collecting as early as 3:30AM. I can't imagine that they release trucks that early in the morning to make runs, but I guess they do. Does anyone else in Nob Hill find this annoying? Does anyone else have this problem in their neighborhood?

I love San Francisco and don't want it to change. My friends and I can buy and trade drugs openly, throw our garbage on the street, disobey traffic laws (even with the SFPD present - those lazy f*cks) and even commit burglary and know we won't be pursued. Keep up the good work Chief Fong!!

I am very disappointed with the hiring freeze. I have been unemployed and have been trying to get a job as a junior engineer with the city. I just interviewed with the MTA 2 weeks ago and was anxiously waiting for a reply from them. Now, the position might not even be open anymore because you people screwed everything up. Thanks a lot.

I don't know if this really get to gavin, but anyways i would like to ask him y can't he do something about the hotels in SF using the white zones to rent for a limo company who rents it for individuals to use to steal the taxi business and other limo company's business that they spend alot of money on advertising to get it.
also what ever happened to equal opportunity rights in this city?.
When a hotel permits one limo company to use the white zone for that purpose then other limo company's can not compete unless Read more »

After C. W. Nevius's article in the Chronicle about the homeless advocates once again mobilizing to block enforcement of laws on living in the Park, I officially give up all hope that the "homeless" problem will ever end. So it's goodbye Main Public Library, goodbye Golden Gate Park, goodbye a major stretch of Market Street (from Powell to Octavia), goodbye to much of Van Ness, goodbye Civic Center. All of these areas are no longer for the majority of the population. They are for the homeless to do whatever they please in.
I would just remind people Read more »

In order to complete the mission with the homeless problem to make an astonishing approach you will have to deal with the rest who are uncooperative with enforcement from the police department otherwise there will not be a huge dent in resolving our problem with the homeless here in San Francisco. I have lived here in S.F. since I was born and now I am 53 years old and l the homeless problem still exist. We should have taken care of this problem years ago and appears that since you are our new Mayor you are look upon to the Read more »

I'm disappointed that the Mayor and City Council voted to give "undocumented immigrants" i.e. illegal aliens an ID card. And by the way calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant"is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensed pharmacist. Both are against the law. Illegals should be deported back to their country of birth. That is where they're citizens. As a USA citizen I don't have the option of obeying only the laws I agree with. Neither should the San Francisco Council or Mayor. Let the San Francisco Council and Mayor enter Mexico or any other country illegally and see what Read more »
