For example, when I go to the Civic Center farmer’s market, homeless men follow me around and hit on me. They don’t do this to men because when I go to the market with my neighbor Chuck, believe me the homeless men don’t even look at me.
When I walk down the street and pass Dolores Park, unless it is a weekend and the park is packed, the homeless men think it’s fine to try and chat me up. These are men with no power in society, but they can have power over women by being sexist assholes.
I went to the library last weekend for an Irish Crossroads festival, and as I left the Civic Center parking garage, some guy who was sleeping near the garage woke up and thought it was just fine to ask me how I am, where I’m going, and to just walk along with me. When I told him to leave me alone, he was scary.
I am sick of these homeless men who think they can hit on women and chat them up. You NEVER experience this because men know amongst men not to pull these stunts with each other. Proof is when I go to the market with Chuck, or if he goes alone no homeless men follow him through the market or try follow him to his car.
This is my peeve. Some weekdays I don’t even go to the park because of all the homeless men.
Your big campaign issue was the homeless, but they are out in droves and harrassing women.
One man on 24th Street was stalking me and following me, calling me "Pretty Lady" which is sexist AND lookist, so I called the police, only to be told that he was exercising his right to free speech! That an arrest could only be made after he did something, like assault and theft.
I don’t know you can do about these loser men who try to get power over women by acting out for attention from women.
