I moved here about 2 1/2 years ago and I must say I love this city and do not plan to leave. Mayor Newson has been a great Mayor, but from living in cities like Ft. Lauderdale, Chicago and visiting cities like Miami, and New York, San Francisco has got a long way to go.
1) Muni- I have to say that this cities public transit system is the worst I have ever seen. Nashville Tennessee has a more effiicient system. Mayor Newsom, send some people to New york and Chicago and take a few notes on how to stop illegal passes, buy monthly/weekly passes that make sense and to have a more on time system. The 1 California is one of the worst busses I have seen in this city. Whenever I ride this bus, no matter what time of day I have to fight my way off.
2) Homeless- You really need to have a conversation with Rudy Giuliani. The homeless are very aggressive and scare the tourist who come to visit our beautiful, loving diverse and open-minded city. I love the fact that gay couples can hold hands and no one bats an eye to them. We need to expand the services for the homeless, and make police arrest the aggressive ones because they are really hurting the city.
3) Dog poo everywhere- I always want to just lay out in a park without fear of thinking I am about to lay in dog poo or pee. I have pets myself and I am very respectful and responsible my pets do not do that. Also fine pet owners who le their pets walk on the streets without leashes. it is dangerous because they can get hot by cars or bite someone.
4) Affordable city- I really hate the fact that the city I have learned to start calling home, I will never be able to buy a home here. This city seems to be heading toward a mecca for rich white people. There is no reason why you can put a cap on home prices, rent, and overall cost of living. The fact that you have to have a 6 figure income to live without money frustrations is riduculous.
5) Bicycle/Motorcyle riders- They are rude, inconsiderate and do not follow any traffic rules. i think that it is stupid that they are able to ride in between traffic. I have seen so many accidents from them doing that. When they cut you off, they cuss at you like you did something wrong.
6) expensive and picky taxis- Taxi drivers are very picky about who they pick up and what neighborhoods they go to. I have yru to see a number to complain because I think they need to be a bit more regulated by the city and account for their actions. They are also dangerous drivers and will hit a ppedestrian to get a fare to their destinations faster if they could get away with it.
7) Drug dealers at Powell/Market Station- There are tourist with young children waiting for the trolly while drug dealers are peddling to anyone they think will buy. Also, WHERE ARE THE POLICE!!!!!!
I would like to repeat that I LOVE San Francisco, but we have a lot of work to do to make the city more livable and less scary for our visitors. We want them to take what our city offers like diversity acceptance back to their small towns.
