There are a significant number of construction projects occurring at the same time, sometimes within feet of each other, in the Rincon Hill area. This includes the new Rincon Hill condominium high rise, Caltrans work on the Bay Bridge, Infinity Towers and the Millennium. This much construction occurring at the same time has causes massive traffic problems (each project takes at least one lane of traffic out) with construction equipment backing in and out of construction sites, creates a tremendous amount of diesel particulate matter, and non-relenting noise pollution. Most, if not all of these projects ignore the City’s time restriction on when they can work and create construction noise into the late hours of the night. When the noise abatement number appearing on the SF City website is called, it just rings with no answer. Why do they not stage these projects so they do not all happen at the same time in the same area? I thought the purpose of a Planning department was to actually plan, not just approve, projects.
