I have lived at the corner of 18th Street and Dolores for almost 9 years. I have three children, and we love having Dolores Park so close by. These days there are approximately 10,000 people in Dolores Park every weekend. On weekends where there are special events, like Opera performances, Symphony performances, Mime Troop shows, that number can double or triple. I love all the activity in the park! BUT! There is not now, nor has there ever been, a pedestrian crossing signal at the corner of 18th and Dolores. We thought it would be installed as part of the undergrounding of power lines, but that did not happen. Why is this? There have been fatalities at this intersection. At times, there are so many people on the sidewalk *just walking by*, that we can’t pull out of our driveway! This is such a huge safety issue, and seems so simple to solve. PLEASE! Install a pedestrian signal at 18th and Dolores! Thanks.
