I applaud your efforts to bring a better quality of life to all San Franciscans. I also read about your $100M towards renovating the City’s public housing. This seems like a double edged sword. I lived in North Beach after the fisherman’s wharf housing projects were reopened, and crime shot up dramatically in the months after the reopening. I would support your renovation as long as there is also a long term plan to keep the neighboring communities crime free. I dont know what that might be, but $100M is alot to put towards a potentially short term program.

i have a relative in alaska whom mentioned something really interesting to me the other day about how they try to keep public housing from becoming a project. they do not let people without jobs into their public housing projects. you have to have a job to qualify. this makes a huge difference in the quality of tenant you attract and keep.
