Dear Mayor Newsom,
Please see my post below, a copy of which I sent to Muni today and If there is ANYTHING you can do to improve this service please do so.
This is to inform you about the lack of an efficient, competent, organized, well-thought-out, structured, prepared, skilled etc….. Muni bus service from the Financial District in San Francisco to the Cal Train Station at 4th and King St.
At present we are now down to one bus (due to the number 15 bus being recently “retired” ) for the Cal Train service within the Financial District area and that is the number 10. Has anyone at Muni recently tried to use this service to get to the train station in a timely manner to catch an afternoon / evening train? Because if they have Muni would be aware of what a travesty of a bus service this number 10 is.
In the past few weeks since the "retirement” of the number 15 bus, myself along with the usual suspects that need to get to the Cal Train Station from the Financial District congregate at Sansome and Clay and our main concern after our day at work is getting home, which means getting to the Cal Train in a timely manner but this has unfortunately not been the case lately and it seems we never make the 4:09pm train (the train we have been taking for years) and we are lucky if we make the 4:27pm train and that comes from waiting at the bus stop for anything from 20 minutes to 50 minutes, YES “50” minutes and I have personally taken a couple of taxis in recent days due to the urgency of making my regular train.
We see plenty of the Number 1 bus go by, as it seems to pass on Clay every time you blink your eyes but try and find a number 10 to get to the train station and that is a completely different story. Is it at all possible to “pull” some of the buses from the number 1 route and put them on the 10 route to accommodate the public in getting to the Cal Train Station?
I truly hope that there is an alternative in the works with Muni to accommodate the public from the Financial District to the Cal Train Station as this is an unbelievably, frustrated service to offer to the public.
Very pleased with the way you are running things at City Hall Mayor Newsom, keep up the good work and don’t let the begrudges get to you.
