Please give some attention to the issue of the rising number of cars parked on the sidewalk and the unwillingness of DPT to enforce the existing law prohibiting it. In my 13 years in San Francisco it has become increasingly harder every year to be a pedestrian.
Recently, I have been often forced to venture out into the street with my three year old to avoid a car "parked in their driveway". When I contacted the DPT about scofflaws parking on the sidewalk to avoid street cleaning tickets the officer in charge told me that it was allowed and that I should just walk around these 30 or so cars on my way to her nursery school.
This evening alone I made four calls to DPT about sidewalk parking and by the fourth call the agent harassed me about how many times I had called about cars on my street.
Mr. Newsom, this is a quality of life issue. Issues I believe you feel strongly about too. Please address the problem of enforcement and funding for DPT so that they may patrol and enforce the already existing laws.
Thank you for your time.
