I am thrilled to live in a city which attracts and encourages so many diverse activities. Fleet Week was an amazing show of hospitality and community which is the heart of San Francisco. However, The Marina, our little quaint yet a tad affluent community suffers drastically with the events held on the Marina Green and Fort Mason.
The Green is still suffering the damage of cooking oil being allowed to be dumped on the grass, plastic rip ties littering and mass amounts of plastic waste which is blowing into the Bay.
Last night was the conclusion of Oktoberfest, now, don’t get me wrong, I too proudly raise a stein to my German heritage, but The Marina this morning is disgusting. Broken bottles, the tail tale signs of one imbibing too much and the increased noise levels as novice drinkers try to navigate the streets looking for the next beer stop. I had to help two of these while walking my dog last night.
I propose that we continue these community activities, but we MUST add additional sanitation workers the days following so that The Marina District, for all the teasing it gets, remains the quaint quintessential community albeit with some of the highest rents.
