1) The Mayor's health insurance plan. Those who are un-insurable will move here and employers who have to pay for it will leave.
2) The no plastic bag rule. If you study the problem, you will find that plastic bags are not the principal source of landfill problems. Also, I live across the street from the Marina Greens where people walk their dogs. Without the plastic bags, the greens will become unindated with animal waste. (Perhaps you can install biodegradable bag dispensers).

Tourists go there and see that one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world is ignored. Harding Park has absorbed all the resources and Lincoln Park has suffered for it. I realize this is not a burning issue but it is my pet peeve. Otherwise, let Gavin know that I think he's a fabulous mayor I will definitely be voting for him again.

Trees: Plant more trees; require every home and apartment to have at least one street tree
Illegal units: Crack down on illegal units; fine the owners; prevent residential use of units that are not up-to-code
Parking: Enforce no-parking-on-sidewalk rules; give property owners tax incentives to keep front yards unpaved
Muni Metro: Have more trains and use two cars; trains are too crowded morning and evening and not frequent enough in off hours; do not lower fares ñ that will just encourage the homeless to ride; fewer people would drive if the trains were not so unpleasant; bus lane on Geary is smart, underground Read This Post »

As a resident of the inner Richmond, my pet peeve is how dirty Clement street is. How about power-cleaning the sidewalks on a regualr basis? How about deterring the aggressive pan-handling in this area?

Bus service to the part of Bernal I live in is horrible! The 67 seems to only show up during heavy commute times- early morning and late afternoon. We need night service not just for convenience but for safety since walking Crescent at night can be dangerous. The cops have too much land to cover and there is not enough local policing in Bernal.

I have an office downtown on Union Square and the panhandling situation has made going to work less than pleasant. And it is getting more and more aggressive with no apparent effort by the city to address it.

Too many avenues for appeal. Let's get the zoning clarified. Thanks for your hard work and leadership.

The fact that there are not enough muni express buses in the morning and the buses don't start early enough in the morning. Also that the express buses end at 6pm. I am primarily referring to the 31AX and 31BX. Many times a bus doesn't show therefore being late for work.
Thanks.

I feel that we should have a curfew for teens from 12-18, because it would cut down after hours crime. You have a lot of unsupervised teens out in the Bayview district anywhere from 10:00 to 4:00 am.

Recently, the city restricted the ability of motorists to make a left-hand turn onto Oak St. when heading south on Masonic Ave. between 7 and 9 AM M-F.
With the completion of the Octavia Blvd. on-ramp to Highway 101, more drivers are using city streets in the western part of the city to access the new on-ramp.
Over the past few months during my morning commute I have noticed a significant increase in the number of drivers who travel south on Masonic between 6 AM and 9 AM in order to access Oak St. which then takes them to the Octavia Read This Post »

Our beautiful city would be a lot more beautiful if there was less litter on the streets. Get tough on litter!
Thanks

1. All outdoor smoking should be banned. Nothing is worse than having to walk to work behind some jerk smoking, or try to enjoy an outdoor cafe when some idiot lights up. It's one thing for them to do it in their homes, it's another thing entirely to have to sit next to it/walk behind it. Omaha, Nebraska can ban this and we can't? That doesn't sound progressive to me.
Muni subway needs expansion FAR beyond Clay Street. In fact, how much help is just running it to Clay St going to be? It won't even go all the way into Read This Post »

How all the school basketball courts are locked up on the weekends, while all the kids hanging out in houses without yards have no place to play because the adults take up the public basketball courts and the schools are all locked up. And so more families move to the suburbs.

I understand that discouraging car use is a good thing environmentally speaking and I'm happy about that but some of us have no choice but to drive because the transit system just doesn't work for everyone's destination and the parking situation all over the city is simply cruel! I get a 60 dollar ticket for parking in a temporary parking zone in front of my own house for 30 seconds at 3 am on a Sunday to run up and drop off some heavy bags! Its atrocious!

I called them because a "Flat Mate" broke into my room and stole approx. $9,000 worth of home theater and electronics from my room. Nothing was done even after the the guy admitted it to them! I was visiting my children in the valley at the time. S.F. Cops are a waste of money!

The gang of drug dealers around the escalator leading up to the area by Payless Shoes by the Powell St. BART station. They block access and are a general nuisance to people wanting access to and from the plaza downstairs. They also hang out at the intersections of Turk, Market and Mason St jeopardizing people's safety around that area.

Like many others in this city, I ride my bike for the daily commute as well as for personal transportation. I'm familiar with the condition of the streets in every neighborhood, not just where I reside (Mission). Many of the main arteries are particularly treacherous: Van Ness Ave, for one. there are more potholes, seams and patches in need of resurfacing there there any other major street. Then there's an additional stretch of 16th street from Valencia Ave to Protrero Ave that is horrendous. When you're on a road bike, you practically get a spinal injury courtesy of the patches Read This Post »

I would very much like to be someone who uses our public transit system - however, it's overcrowded (esp. MUNI 108, 47, and 38 at certain times of the day - and the N line! what a nightmare) and very uncomfortable much of the time - I would *much* rather drive most of the time, even though I know busing it would be better for the environment. Can you do something about this?

I find it unbelievable that the dangerous practice of red-light running continues year after year and, in fact, becomes more common when a simple concentrated, highly-efficient, self-sustaining, self-financed police enforcement would put an end to it. Efforts to date such as camera enforcement have done little to stop the epidemic simply because the cameras do not provide an effective deterrent.
I would suggest that a dedicated, roving enforcement unit deployed at key intersections during 'drive time' would provide the necessary deterrent required to put an end to this dangerous practice. The motoring public should be warned in advance that a no-tolerance Read This Post »

Would love to see police start a campaign to get people to use their turn signals. This would prevent a huge percentage of accidents. If we were afraid that we would get a ticket I think we would all start to do it. Such a simple solution to a big problem.
