My pet peeve is the fact that the city has not gotten a handle on the 49ers situation. From what I've seen and heard, the stadium is in horrible shape, and is in dire need of repair. Now I don't know the specifics, but the 49ers are a vital part of our community. Are you going to allow them to move to Santa Clara? That would be the first team in sports history to move into a small community. They are asking for help and we are not giving it to them. And that goes for everything in Bayview. In my neighborhood, and especially in front of my house, old cars are always being left to die. I wish the Excelsior wasn't the city's dump for old vechicles!

I have had my suspension damaged by the street conditions int this city. I have to say i have lived in many cities where the weather conditions are much worse and severe and there streets are better maintained. Would like to see more efffort in upkeep of roads/streets.
Thank You a citizen and small business owner of San Francisco.

I regret missing the mayor's town meetings. I have two pet peeves. I live on California and Octavia and for the last two years the neighborhood have been waiting for a signal at the corner of Octavia & Cal. Why is it taking so long? It is a dangerous corner for my children and me when we cross to go to the park. Also, why do the police spend so much time watching the park for dogs without licenses, instead of moving the homeless out of the bushes?

1. Because of SF's school lottery system, my child is not guaranteed a spot in my neighborhood school. I find this ridiculous. I pay property taxes based on the value of the property in my neighborhood...why shouldn't I have guaranteed access to the schools?
2. The main park in our neighborhood (North Beach) has very outdated, and what I think to be dangerous playstructures. I have taken to going to other, more updated playgrounds in other neighborhoods.
These are two of the reasons my family is planning to move out of the city this summer.

I am a bicyclist here in SF and the roads are full of pot holes! We need more bike lanes and more walk/don't walk signs everywhere. this city needs to take it up a notch for pedestrians and bicyclists.

We should do away with district elections so that we can get rid of good for nothing and self centered supervisors such as Daly, Amiano, Pestkin and McGoldrick. These supervisors do a lot more harm than good for San Francisco.

Mr. Newsom,
It bothers me that your social life is all over the media and that you are the type of politician that uses rehab as a publicity stunt. If you need rehab, sir, step down and take the proper time it requires to recover. You do a disservice to all those who truly battle with addiction by diminishing the time and commitment rehabilitaion requires and pretending one can be a successful mayor and in the early stages of recovery.
I'm tired of the circus your incumbency has become. We need fresh leadership.

If you are disabled can you properly drive and react ? I saw a gentleman who literally took 5 minutes shuffling because he could not walk double park and go into the cleaners on Taraval
How can he react if there is a child is the street?

I work in a school and at least 3-4 times a week I must get these people up so they are gone by the time the children arrive. Many times they are rude and they always leave a mess for someone else to clean up.

The San Francisco Unified School District blatantly disregards special education laws. The administrators disregard the well being of the children in favor of the Bottom Line. The only recourse to the parents, in the less than likely case that they are financial secure enough to afford it, is to hire a special education attorney.

I think that Mayor Newsom has done a lot to deal with the homeless issue in the city, but I continue to believe that there needs to be more done about panhandlers in the city that are a nuisance to the residents, and scare off the tourists. Lets face it without the revenue from tourists, how can we continue to fund all of the homeless programs that have been developed. As an employee that works directly with the homeless, I know that there are services available, and most of the money gained from panhandling is used for alcohol and drugs. Read This Post »

Bus stops have reserved areas painted on the street where the bus is supposed to exit traffic and stop to pick up/drop off passengers. When driving behind a bus and the bus makes a stop, the driver never stops the bus in the designated bus stop area. They always stop the bus so at least part of it is sticking out into oncoming traffic. The traffic is forced to stop and wait for the bus or worse, go around the bus and cause a dangerous situation for onciming traffic and pedestrians.

Glad you asked.
1) The small factions of people who seem to shout the loudest and continually impede real progress and real problem solving with their narrow positions. From the Mayor's town hall meatings to every public and governmental forum. At some point we have to realize that not everyone can be pleased and there is a greater good.

Our business is on 615 Sansome street and we have to deal with graffiti removal almost on a daily basis. We also have to clean the sidewalk constantly of the food (and other human!) leftovers in front of the store.

Besides our homeless issue, which Mayor Newsom and team is making great strides in addressing, my pet peeve in the city is that most of our wires are not undergrounded. I saw some legislation that was going to address this some months ago and voiced my support, but now I can't find anything more about it.
This is one of those things that sounds shallow or superficial at first. But, visit a street with undergrounded wires and then visit one that does not have them. The undergrounded street seems cleaner, even if it isn't. The exquisite architecture of the buildings on Read This Post »

The only problem I have living in SF is the homeless. Although I've heard a lot of talk of progress on this issue, I don't see any tangible evidence of change. I'm not sure what the solution could be, but its a blight on the city and a deepening aggravation for me.

When I explain the condo conversion rules to people outside SF, they think it is a page out of Mad Magazine, not to mention the laws that are supposed to protect tenants but actually discourage home ownership.
