Hi There!
I love what you're doing with the Peeve Blog, San Francisco is always leading the way in America.
Here's a Pet Peeve site that I visit pretty regularly. I thought it would add some relief for the site, and be a place to redirect the less city-specific peeves to.
http://www.peevepile.com/
Keep up the good work.

I am a life-long Democrat to the bone, but when it comes to illegal immigration, I sound totally Republican. I think Gavin Newson's stated policy of protecting them in San Francisco is 100% wrong.
I have no sympathy for people who have broken the law in coming here. If they are caught and returned to their country, so much the better. I do feel sorry for any children that they have that get caught up in their parents' legal problems caused by their illegal actions. I do not feel that we are responsible for the situation or need to particularly change Read This Post »

There are officers that work diligently to keep our city of San Francisco safe and when I read the newspaper the media never has anything nice to say about our police department. I think is time for us to support our Police Department and give them the credit that is desire.
Until you experience the streets that officers encounter and walk in their shoes then you will have the right to criticize their abilities.
Let SFPD do their job and stop hindering.
Sincerely,

When my son Came to SF on Cal-Train he was told that no bicycles were allowed on the light rail and he is disabled and uses his bike to transport him when he is in the city. At his home in San Jose bike holders are available on all forms of transportation. I consider this a form of discrimination to the handicapped.

There are drug deals a block away at the neighborhood laundrymat and homeless drug addicts on our front entryway. The new T Third line is overrun with thugs too. I could care less about buying MUNI passes online.

We allow PG&E to lie about California's true natural gas reserves, pretending the were made by 'fossils' and are 'running out'!
Instead, true science proves that hydrocarbons are available in massive quantities and should be as cheap as water used to be.
We pretend we are protecting 'national security' by keeping the truth under our hats, but really it's a ruse to collect your money, and they are laughing all the way to the bank.
How can we have a carbon policy that denies the true nature of hydrocarbons?
Only if we desire an insane society.

Today I watched a worker cutting the grass on the public hillside across from my apartment at 561 Burnett. There was litter on the hillside and the worker just weed whacked the litter right along with the grass. RESULT: Yes, the grass got cut and the paper litter got shredded. Now it looks like there is cut grass with a light covering of snow. Couldn't the litter have been picked up first, so that the litter wouldn't have been shredded and spread over the hillside. Is this town that poor or lazy. Where's the pride (and I'm not talking GAY Read This Post »

1. Delays on Muni ... Waiting at lights on the Embarcadero when they should be synchronised with the trains ... waiting for 35 mins for a train and then have 2 coming one minute after another.
2. Crazy homeless people who harass you on the street! The other day I was waiting for a bus at 4th & Townsend and a crazy, angry man started shouting endless diatribes at everyone waiting.

I don't have kids yet but we are thinking about it. I'm baffled about the school situation, as it seems like so many people must send their kids across the city to a school they don't want and with no way to get the kids there. No school buses, from what I hear; either the working parents need to somehow get their kids across town before work and pick them up there after work, or the young kids have to navigate Muni. No school buses from what I hear. I'm all for increasing diversity and equal opportunity, but the practical Read This Post »

The fact that there appears to be no public service campaign on safe walking/street crossing. Growing up in New York City (where they know a thing or two about being aggressive, pedestrian-wise) I remember PSA jingles about crossing at the cross walk, about looking both ways, about being a smart pedestrian. But pedestrians in San Francisco seem to work on the principle that, since it's not legal to hit them, everyone will be able to stop in time to obey the law. Physics trumps even the best-intentioned driver. I wish my daughter's school had a Walk Safe program--or even just Read This Post »

It does not make sense to me that people who receive disabled parking stickers automatically do not have to pay for parking meters. Many of those recipients are wealthy professionals with adequate means. Perhaps there should be two types of disabled stickers for parking, one that is free parking entitled through an audit process of their assets and one that is not free.

Failure to recognize the difference between individuals & corporations so that less-informed folk bitch about unfortunate homeless people & collude with corporate monopolies like the U.S. Federal Reserve.

There are a number of parking capable spots in the City that because of zoning that isn't properly used get wasted. A number of spaces outside businesses on Clement and Geary Streets have gotten yellow zones that are only used in the mornings as well as green zones for smaller places that don't last long, but the green stays. The worst is white loading zones for restaurants that are huge and only get used by their "valet" service. This is getting crazy in residential neighborhoods where you know it is at a premium to begin with. Also, there are spaces Read This Post »

Despite overwhelming scientific evidence that oil and natural gas ARE eternally renewable resources created by the chemical reactions in the Earth's core, not 'fossil fuels' that are disappearing, the entire government is on a fool's rush behind a carbon policy that denies the true nature of hydrocarbons.
Get real, you guys are running the biggest scam in history.

1. Too many dogs, and dogs allowed in inappropriate places like natural areas and GGNRA.
2. Too many cars. We need more and better public transit and to close some streets to private autos.

My pet peeve is the hypocrisy of parking law enforcement by the City. The S.F.F.D. requested "red zones" be painted next to their firehouses (eg. Broadway & Powell) to make it easier and faster for their engines and trucks to enter and leave the firehouse. This is very important and San Franciscans should give up the right to park there. However, everyday (24/7) the private automobiles of firefighters are parked in the "red zones" contributing to slower response times that the "red zones" were to avoid. These cars are never ticketed.
I asked DPT why and their response was as follows. Read This Post »

Walking through the Tenderloin and seeing numerous street crimes (shooting up heroin on the street, urination, breaking windows, etc.) with no police intervention. Sometimes the police walk right by the people shooting up and do nothing! Major pet peeve.

My pet peeve is almost getting hit by a car every time i cross the street at Montgomery and Sutter!!! Whenever I walk through the financial district, I feel that i am taking my life into my own hands. Cars are constantly running red lights especially at the previously intersection mentioned. I think police officers on motorcycles should sit at that light and pull over some of the violators.
