Make MUNI free with a congestion tax
April 25th, 2007 8:22 am

MUNI: service really deteriorated when it was cut back last year. Why not try to run it as a free service? That's a great idea. Charge for automobile entry into downtown areas. Or, charge an admission to the city. Mark Hotsenpiller Read This Post »

BART and the Local Buses
April 25th, 2007 8:18 am

BART and the local buses never marry up, so a business person can't use public transport because it doubles the time to reach the destination. Vera Byers Read This Post »

Crime in Potrero
April 25th, 2007 8:14 am

My pet peeve is crime.  I live in Potrero and sometimes things get ugly.  Transients think it's okay to live in their cars and use the sidewalks as their toilets.  People are constantly dumping their trash in my neighborhood.  Cars being broken into is routine.  I once saw a guy pull an AK-47 out of the trunk of a Mercedes by the projects.  And every once in a while, someone gets shot.  I'd very much like this to stop.  I'd like a zero tolerance approach toward violence be taken.  Bulldoze the projects at the top of the hill.  I don't Read This Post »

Meter maids that hide behind cars while ticketing
April 24th, 2007 7:15 am

I'm sick to death of  the meter maids and their bad attitudes! I've owned a business in S.F. for 35 years. I have 6 trucks. The meter maids will hide behind cars and write their tickets while we're pulled up in front of our shop garage WHILE the truck is being unloaded. We don't double-park or otherwise harass them. They harass us constantly. Funny that in Pacific Heights, where most of our customer base is, we don't see meter maids every 5 minutes. Is that because they pay more taxes that my business? no way!!! On more than one occasion, Read This Post »

Ban the Blue Angels
April 23rd, 2007 6:55 pm

I would be quite happy if the Blue Angels were banned from San Francisco. I work on Church and 17th, and it's already noisy enough with the Church Street Muni passing by my storefront. They waste tons of fuel and money, and scare animals, domestic and wild. Thank Uou, Michele Read This Post »

Your Stand on Illegal Immigrants
April 23rd, 2007 6:53 pm

HOW DARE YOU TAKE THE LAW INTO YOUR OWN HANDS......I AM TOTALLY APPALLED AT YOUR STAND ON THIS ISSUE.  WHAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO MAKE YOUR OWN RULES.  NO WONDER THE US IS IN SUCH A STATE.  WHEN ARE ELECTED OFFICIALS WILL NOT CARRY OUT ANY LAWS.  YOU REMIND ME OF A LITTLE KID WHO WANT'S HIS OWN WAY.  DID IT EVERY OCCUR TO YOUR THAT MAYBE JUST MAYBE TO MAJORITY OF THE PUBLIC WOULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU. THE ONLY REASON YOU GOD DAMN POLITICIANS ARE DOING WHAT YOU DAMN WELL WANT, IS FOR THE VOTE.  GOD FORBID YOU SHOULD LOOSE THE MEXICAN VOTE.  I HAVE Read This Post »

‘Illegal Sanctuary’
April 23rd, 2007 3:35 pm

In principle this is a very noble gesture. However, are not all Americans immigrants and their descendents? Is there not a Federal process for obtaining legal status? Will all of the people that have gone through the Federal process be reimbursed for thousands of dollars in form and attorney fees that they incurred, including time lost from work? What about the people whose legal status applications were rejected, the families which are separated often by oceans? A "sanctuary" or other type of blind amnesty can only be viewed as benefiting the employers of illegal immigrants. Employing illegal aliens is a crime in Read This Post »

Regulate Dog Walkers
April 23rd, 2007 11:24 am

This really is a pet peeve.  For-profit "dog walkers" should be regulated by the City and the City should be patrolling dog runs and other areas for-profit "dog walkers" use to ensure such businesses are legitimate, and that the ration of dogs to human is one in which the dogs can actually be under the control of the profiteer (no greater than 4 dogs under the control of one human seems reasonable). Dog walking businesses use the City's parks, open spaces and dog runs as part of their businesses.  Frequently, throughout most days the Walter Haas Park dog run is Read This Post »

Kamakasi Drivers
April 23rd, 2007 10:07 am

One of my pet peeves....what would be called "Kamakasi Drivers".  These are drivers of vehicles that will speed up behind another driver's vehicle and than either speed around that vehicle and than cut them off or just tailgate.  This is done when other lanes are open.  I can only imagine that this may have occurred today on the Dumbarton Bridge today, causing the another accident.  This one ending with a fatality. Recycling Truck in Excelsior
April 23rd, 2007 9:26 am

I live in Excelsior on Paris just off of Russia between Russia and Persia. Two doors away our neighbor parks his truck which he fills with recycling (bottles, cans, glass, cardboard) all week long filling it up and hauling it away once a week. We have to look at this eyesore all week long as he fills his truck up. At best it is an eyesore at worst a potential health and safety hazard. I have spoken with several police officers in the neighborhood and they say nothing can be done. I would bet this would not be allowed in Read This Post »

Sanctuary for anybody?
April 23rd, 2007 8:34 am

Mayor Gavin Newsom, To me it's unfair to have people coming here illegally...then provide services: housing money, school lunches, free health care. You who work for the tax payer here forgot your pledge!  Most of these illegals work for cash...or pay back $6,000 for the $35,000 they receive. It looks to me like your just looking to keep your jobs at the expense of the taxpayers. You are not a good Mayor or American...move to Mexico & see how much you would get from that country. Defying Federal Laws
April 23rd, 2007 7:31 am

Sir, I just read that you want to defy Federal laws, concerning illegal immigration. Your lax attitude on this matter, might get you more votes eventually, but you are harming the rest of the Country. Illegal Aliens do not just stay in your town, they move across America, and we are losing good paying jobs, construction jobs are good paying jobs for our citizens. Defying our laws, shows a lack of respect for the rest of American citizens, and you should rethink your policies. Barbara Read This Post »

Sanctuary City
April 23rd, 2007 7:27 am

I am totally against this sanctuary city designation. What part of "illegal" does he not understand. I worked as an administrator in the S.F. courts for 26 years. There was a ton of illegal aliens who committed crimes and were a substantial part of the criminal population. The Sheriff is not allowed to call the INS to have them deported so they hit our streets again and commit even more crimes. They also form numerous gangs in our city. I'm not even talking about the children that we are paying to educate and the medical system that is being overwhelmed by Read This Post »

Blue Angles in SF
April 22nd, 2007 8:11 pm

We have long worried about the risks of the Blue Angles airshow each year.  They are impressive to watch, but what will happen in SF if a Blue One went down in 1999 and now another one, luckily in a rural area.  Their long term history of accidents is impressively bad. Our son-in-law is in the Air Force and flies on an AWAC so we're loyal and love our fliers, but also quite aware of the disaterous risks involved in in the type of flying that is involved in what the Blue Angels are doing. Every year we are thankful Read This Post »

Dirty streets, homeless people laying around by ATM machines and crime
April 21st, 2007 3:04 pm

What bothers me is that San Francisco is a beautiful place to live but it has it disappointments like dirt street, homeless people laying around by ATM machines and crime is going up.  There needs to more strict rules that when there are offenders who violate the law they need to be punish.  The reason why cirme is so high is because violators have a comfort zone here in San Francisco where they are allow to get away with it.  We need to start cracking down and get with the program.  Hiring more policemen is a start but we need Read This Post »
