Enforce our Traffic Laws in SOMA and all over the City
May 23rd, 2007 1:45 pm

Drivers run red lights, turn right on red when pedestrians are in the crosswalk, park on the sidewalk, and generally ignore all traffic laws.  We have had too many avoidable deaths already.  Start enforcing the laws.  If our current police chief can't do it, find one who can. Filthy Financial District
May 23rd, 2007 1:44 pm

Minna and Natoma Alleys between 2nd and New Montgomery Streets are filled with homeless people, debris, filth, and human excrement.  In the heart of the business district, why can't these be kept clean? Robin Wolaner Read This Post »

The DPT in our city is OUT OF CONTROL
May 23rd, 2007 1:43 pm

The parking situation is bad enough without the DPT raping us for minimal "violations" like wheels not being turned in enough on a flat street (not even a hill) or any ticket for that matter.  The DPT in our city is OUT OF CONTROL.  The fees charged are outrageous and more than most places in the country, also given more liberally, so that even overly cautious drivers and parkers like myself who have lived in the city for years are still getting raped to pad the rich, deep pockets of the DPT.  Thanks for punishing the citizens of your city Read This Post »

The Board of Supervisors
May 23rd, 2007 1:41 pm

I cannot stand that we have a Board of Supervisors at all, much less such a biased and corrupt board.  Nothing passes in the city but that this small group with very similar view points (not diverse in value or focus, much less political views) and corruption controls decisions and reaps the rewards of higher & higher taxes and propositions that actually change nothing in our city but pad pockets for the Supes and other 'higher ups'. Dying Trees in the Sunset
May 23rd, 2007 1:40 pm

I like the new trees, but I wish you had used Friends of the Urban Forest for the street-tree plantings in the Sunset. Instead, it looks like you used a contractor who didn't know how to properly plant and care for them. So many dried out and died shortly after planting! Such a waste! The Friends organization teaches that you must water a newly-planted tree for the first YEAR. Name Withheld Read This Post »

Where is Gavin’s Calendar on this site?
May 23rd, 2007 1:35 pm

Supposedly our mayor is making public appearances all over town to take questions from citizens in lieu of appearing before the Board of Supervisors. All well and good in intent. So, I click on your Calendar link on this web site and guess what? There is no calendar of Gavin's appearances for these public forums. For a candidate who claims he wants debate and input, how about getting an accurate calendar online? And BTW, even though I think Gavin is not doing everything he should. For example, what good does it do to call 311 and report graffiti on city signs if Read This Post »

Panhandling is a blight on our city
May 23rd, 2007 1:29 pm

Last Friday night, I went downtown to see a play at A.C.T and before and after the show, I was constantly hassled by panhandlers. Literally one on every corner - from BART to the Geary theater, to the restaurant and back to BART. It was impossible for my date and I to even maintain a conversation; we were interrupted every 100 yards by someone else asking us for money. I struggle with the idea that panhandling is an inalienable right; somehow protected by pursuit of happiness. The laws against persistent panhandling aren't enough. Our entire evening was tainted by folks harrassing Read This Post »

Crime is rampant throughout the city and nothing is done about it
May 23rd, 2007 1:28 pm

Cars are broken into, drugs are sold openly on the street, there are numerous prostitutes soliciting, graffiti is rampant.  You can call the SFPD, but they won't do anything about it and usually won't even come out!  And even if they catch someone, the DA won't prosecute. Chris Daly Out to Lunch
May 22nd, 2007 7:16 pm

Supervisor Chris Daly who oversees the SOMA district, my district, has not made any significant improvements in my neighborhood and his priorities are discombobulated.  Mr. Daly's policy is not triggered toward improvements in his district but he would rather have it remain as it is today, a ghetto.  Mr. Daly should be representing the working class people who pay taxes and want changes in their community, instead his policies do nothing but leave us San Franciscans handling the burden of the homeless and the criminals.  What type of Supervisor are you, Mr. Daly?  You have done nothing constructive for the SOMA district, just look Read This Post »

Potentially dangerous trash @ 23rd St. & San Jose Ave.
May 22nd, 2007 10:25 am

For the last two months street work has taken place at this address.  There are two large containers full of trash.  I would guess most comes from our lovely neighbors.  There is paper, clothing, food, etc. scattered all over the street and concentrated around sidewalk trees.  There are also two large buckets with standing "water" that have been there for a very long time.  Actually, one of the buckets has been knocked over releasing it's contents.  I tried calling the SF Public Health dept. and continued to get a message telling me to call back or go to the Internet.  Read This Post »

Out of control automobile boomboxes
May 21st, 2007 12:28 pm

The automobile boombox situation is totally out of control. There are growing complaints from office and residence dwellers, as well as from motorists and pedestrians, about the levels of booming noise emanating from these insidious machines. This abominable nuisance, perpetrated by some of the lowest grade morons in the city, has been the subject of editorials and columns in the local media. How bad does the situation have to get before action is taken to stop this abomination? I live at Eastern Park Apartments, ***Eddy Street, home of around 310 seniors and disabled persons. Travelling on the T Line
May 21st, 2007 10:17 am

The other night I decided to take the T line home from the Embarcadero Y to my home in Dogpatch.  While at least 2 J trains went by in each direction, I waited 30 minutes for the T.  When I got on the train, it was packed.  No wonder -- everyone else was waiting for it as well.  I want to commute on the T line, but I need it to be reliable and I need it to come more than every 30 minutes. May 21st, 2007 10:16 am

Please help stop illegal immigrants from become citizens, they broke the law. We have many of are own people who need jobs and some place to live/good housing to live. We'd have much more available housing and if these people become citizens they will send so much of are money to other countries that we'll be in real trouble. Please help send them all back and don't ever let these law breakers back in this country, Thank you. Allen Madison Read This Post »

Cannot Purchase a Home
May 21st, 2007 10:15 am

2nd generation born and raised San Franciscan.  I am proud of my city.  I am also frustrated that I have worked hard here at CPMC and now UCSF, and I cannot buy anything here.  I feel so many programs are designed for the low income, but nothing is geared for individuals that are not considered low income, but certainly cannot purchase a home.  Name Withheld Read This Post »

Stop Graffiti
May 21st, 2007 10:14 am

The non responsibility of the enforcement agencies to stop graffiti from defacing the walls and windows of San Francisco.  Recently the criminals have been using acid to etch the windows so we can no longer clean the paint from the window but now have the expense of replacing the window.  I equate the damage caused by the acid etching on the window to breaking the window.  Recently at 409 Gough Street seven of our windows were defaced with acid and it cost us $1,400.00 to repair the same and have had to coat the windows with a plastic cover, install Read This Post »

Subsidize Green Streets
May 21st, 2007 10:12 am

The city needs to encourage "green streets" by subsidizing street trees, but NOT through FUF (Friends of the Urban Forest). I am very interested in planting a street tree in front of my house, but in order to qualify for a FUF tree I would have to organize 25 of my neighbors and plan 2 neighborhood "planting" meetings. I think city funding would be better spent with direct subsidies for trees to homeowners, instead of going through FUF which makes it very, very difficult to get a tree. Sprinklers Watering the Streets
May 21st, 2007 10:11 am

I am off work for 1 week and have spent time at home for the first time in ages.  Many walks through Golden Gate Park.  One thing that I have noticed on a very regular basis.  We are supposed to be a "Green" city, which I would think would include water conservation.  Most sprinklers are going strong and simply watering the street.  Can these sprinklers not be watched and adjusted to water the plants and grass.  It is a shameful waste.
