The new green newspaper bins are great except when they allow for people to use the sides of them as urinals. This is occurring every day on the corner of 7th/Market St. (check cashing store corner). A guy can stand in between the two Green Bins which allows them to pee w/o being exposed. There is so much urine that it cascades out right in front of the Bart/Muni stairs to go underground. Such a lovely Welcome to SF!?!?

Can something be done about the timing of the traffic lights at Mississippi/7th/16th Street? Driving from Mississippi onto 7th, the green light is so short that only 3 or 4 cars can get through before it turns red again. In the evening, this means that traffic is often backed up for multiple cycles of the light. Could this green light be made a little longer, or the one allowing traffic down 16th a little shorter? I realize it's a complicated intersection, with three distinct streets and a Caltrain crossing... but that brings me to another point about this light, that Read This Posty »

Instead of less garbage cans, we need more in certain downtown areas, such as 7th Street between Mission & Market Streets. There are none at all and there is always bottles and paper in the street and sidewalk.

Homeless pissing and shi@ing, on public streets and sidewalks within the realm of 7th, jones, post, to market and california streets, known as the tenderloin. The city needs to stop being so giving to the homeless, because the problem is getting worse and worse every year. There are professionals living in the tenderloin too, lets not forget. Problem 2 drug selling on 7th and market its every where there, and i have yet to walk by and not notice a deal. WE NEED MORE UNDERCOVER COPS AND STINGS ON THAT CORNER!!!!

The smell of urine when I come up the escalator at the Civic Center BART station (the 7th and Market exit, to be specific!). Are the escalators ever cleaned?! Doesn't smell like it....

Market Street at Seventh Street is a mess with gangs and thieves market every day and night. It's killing our business. Something has to be done before someone gets hurt or killed, again!

I am afraid to park my car on city streets for fear that my windows will be shattered and my car broken into. I live near 7th & Townsend. There are mounds of broken car glass everywhere, evidence of cars that were vandalized. There are also many other neighborhoods I walk thru and see the same broken glass. Is the Police Department doing anything about these vandals/theifs? I don't want my insurance rates to go even higher plus out-of-pocket expenses due to deductibles.

I work at the Renoir Hotel on 45 McCallister St. Many of our guests are scared to go outside, I'm thinking about quitting because it;s so bad out there. We need a Starbuck's or a police substation on 7th and Market. We need a loitering law. I watch the people walk around the block a hundred times in a day. I watch bums drink in a covered bus stop for hours at a time. Numerous times I've seen our guests have their car windows broken in our white zone and then realized later that I saw the thieves selling them Read This Posty »
