Filth and dirt of this city
October 11th, 2007 2:51 pm

I'm sick and tired of walking home from BART to my Nob Hill apartment thought the filth and dirt of this city. I spent two months in NY City this summer and was amazed at how clean it was compared to SF. I plan on moving  as I am tired of nothing being done about this problem. Sincerely, Mary Read This Posty »

Drug Dealing on Julian Ave.
October 11th, 2007 7:49 am

I'm a big fan.  Thanks for so much.  My problem is the drug dealing and using outside my house on Julian Avenue and outside my back gate on Caledonia alley, both off 16th between Mission and Valencia.  Dealers and users and homeless abound.  Please give the victims services and arrest the dealers.  They ride in on BART, wear distinctive jackets (mostly 49ers), have bicycles, and work the alleys around the BART station.  They are very obvious, at least to me.  The needles, piss, and worse are a daily issue.  Chris Daly has ignored our pleas.  Keep up the good work Read This Posty »

T Line Commute
August 29th, 2007 8:19 am

Today I took the T line from 20th and 3rd to the Embarcadero BART station.  I caught a 6:38 train.  There was a 30 minute gap in between the train I caught and the next train.  It makes it really difficult to transition to commuting on the T Line when the train runs so infrequently during commute hours. BART Escalators
August 20th, 2007 9:48 am

It seems as though the escalators at the BART stations are never working, especially in the Mission. Are they designed to break down every other week?! Name Withheld Read This Posty »

MUNI Change
August 20th, 2007 9:37 am

I know it's dreaming too big to ask for a true MUNI/BART merge, but there is a really frustrating difficulty in the system that could be quickly rectified (i think).  I was introducing a friend as a new MUNI rider at Montgomery station underground.  She was open to using it but we both only had $20s in our wallets.  So I said "no problem, there's a change machine, see how handy!"  The change machine only produces $5 bills.  "no problem, there's a bill to coin changer, see how handy!"  The bill to coin changer only accepts $1 bills.  "no problem, Read This Posty »

Public Safety
August 9th, 2007 2:29 pm

Last week my brother got mugged while walking home from work late at night (he's a waiter at a restaurant downtown and takes the BART back to the Mission after work). As a home owner/occupier in the city who grew up in the Midwestern suburbs it amazes me that, in spite of the incredible financial resources at the city's disposal, there is such a shortfall regarding basic quality of life issues like cleanliness and safety. BART
August 9th, 2007 2:27 pm

I just started taking BART and am disgusted with the homeless panhandling, musicians, and no staff in the booths for emergencies. Kick the former out of BART and fire the BART employees playing hookie. Still need to work on cleaning up the homeless on Powell/Market. It is sometimes scary to walk thru there to get to BART. What ever happened to the police kiosk? Congrats on the new Transit terminal. Don't make it so tall. No need for it to stick out like a sore thumb like the ugly condo project going up next to Read This Posty »

Can MUNI police actually get real work to do like watching for our safety?
July 24th, 2007 7:12 am

In my continuing frustration walking to and from the Powell Street MUNI/Bart Station to my place of work near Union Square, a friend let me know about this website.  Frankly, I am doubtful this will help, but will give it a try.  For me, and thousands of others who have to use this station to get to work, this becomes representative of what San Francisco is like to LIVE in.  Unfortunately, I do not have the good fortune of working around the Montgomery Station or Embarcadero.  Every day without fail, I am treated to what is like a human toilet Read This Posty »

Homeless at Hallidie Plaza
July 13th, 2007 7:38 pm

I'm sitting here looking out my apartment window at the gang of 5 or 6 homeless who have made camp in Hallidie Plaza by the Powell St. BART station.  They're there when I go to work, when I go to school, when I go to dinner, when I go to catch a train, when I come home from work, when I come home from school, when I look out my window. Their bags and garbage and guitars and skateboards strewn about the plaza.  Their litter blowing all over the place in the wind.  I see people shooting up in the plaza, Read This Posty »

SF Bombarded by Ads
June 20th, 2007 7:24 am

We live in an society that is constantly bombarded with advertising images. In SF it's virtually impossible to get from one place to another without being pitched the latest iPod, Windows version or the next blockbuster movie. Why? Because advertising works. People see things, remember them, and act accordingly by making a purchase, telling a friend or altering their own behavior. In order for advertisers to reach their audience they need a medium in which they can communicate their message; the most popular being television, radio, print, web, and open-air (posters, billboards etc.). The organizations that provide access to their audience Read This Posty »

Smell of Urine at Civic Center BART Station

BART and DPT
May 28th, 2007 1:58 pm

My husband is the chef at Globe. The restaurant does a service to the city by serving good food until 1 AM. Since BART doesn't run much past midnight, he has to drive. The meters/tickets are outrageous and to park in a lot monthly is also outrageous. What's the solution? Susie Modlano Read This Posty »

Panhandling is a blight on our city
May 23rd, 2007 1:29 pm

Last Friday night, I went downtown to see a play at A.C.T and before and after the show, I was constantly hassled by panhandlers. Literally one on every corner - from BART to the Geary theater, to the restaurant and back to BART. It was impossible for my date and I to even maintain a conversation; we were interrupted every 100 yards by someone else asking us for money. I struggle with the idea that panhandling is an inalienable right; somehow protected by pursuit of happiness. The laws against persistent panhandling aren't enough. Our entire evening was tainted by folks harrassing Read This Posty »

Homelessness Getting Worse in SF and Oakland
May 21st, 2007 9:42 am

I'm concerned about the homeless I see every day sleeping and living on the streets. Many appear to have substance abuse problems, and many panhandle in and around the BART stations, especially at the Powell and Civic Center stops. I travel to many urban areas on a regular basis and no other city seems to have as many homeless on the streets as San Francisco.  It is a very sad and troubling situation and I don't see enough being done about it. I've been in the area for eight years and it is getting worse both in San Francisco and Read This Posty »

Muni and BART
May 21st, 2007 9:25 am

A "world class" city needs "world class" transportation. I've traveled much of the US, western Europe. SF public transportation is poor by comparison. From fare jumpers, filthy seats/floors, *extremely poor* on-time performance (no matter the statistics - personal experience is far different), surly drivers.... all is in need of improvement. Vast improvement. In an effort to live a greener life, I sold my car over a year ago. Now, I'm researching prices to buy another...... Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Glen Park Parking
May 21st, 2007 8:26 am

My pet peeve....I just joined a new company and want to commute via BART from Glen Park Bart and found out that no longer can anyone park on O'Shaunessy road as it is a 2 hour zone.  I live up the hill in Diamond Heights.  I can not drive down and park my car there as I do not have that area sticker.  It sucks and it is wrong that I live in the neighborhood next door and still can not access Bart very easily as the Muni is not that reliable (52 line) and the fact that I can Read This Posty »

BART and the Local Buses
April 25th, 2007 8:18 am

BART and the local buses never marry up, so a business person can't use public transport because it doubles the time to reach the destination. Vera Byers Read This Posty »

Parking at Glen Park Bart Station
April 19th, 2007 11:44 am

The streets around the Glen Park Bart station have been redone for parking. One whole side of the street is now 2 hour parking. Since that much 2 hr. parking is not utilized by many people it remains empty most of the time. There is very little 4 hr. parking. If you want to take Bart it is very difficult to find any parking. You can't go downtown and back in two hours. It's hard to do it in four hours. The bus to Bart is not convenient. Please reevaluate the parking situation around Glen Park Bart Station. Bart…Where Is The Love?
April 18th, 2007 3:04 pm

I can't decide which public transportation system has chewed me up and spit me out more...Muni or BART? It's as if both systems don't want me to ride them, but instead rendezvous in tunnels unknown for hours at length laughing about all the money they are making from demagnetizing my BART tickets. So here's the deal: I'll start with BART and see where that takes me. I'm a woman, who likes to carry purses. We women in the city do this. The problem is that the purse makers and BART haven't had a meeting to talk about de-magnitization. The same goes Read This Posty »
