Please help prevent people from being mugged on the short 1 to 2 block stroll from Cortland Street to their homes. With the recent shift in demographics in Bernal Heights, you'd be surprised at how many of your loyal constituents reside there.

My main pet peeve - Taxi cabs are now impossible to get when you call for them. This is especially true in Bernal Heights.
My second pet peeve is that none of the \"Rules and Regulations\" that help customers are enforced. For instance, the Rules and Regulations 8.B.2 say \"If the caller has requested a call back and the call has not been dispatched within twenty (20) minutes of the request the service shall call back the person(s) and advise them of such.\" -- I've actually tried to ask for a call back and dispatchers pretty much laugh at Read This Posty »

One of my pet peeves is that my neighborhood, Bernal Heights is like an unincorporated part of some third world country. There are blocks with no sidewalks or curbs, and the streets are like dirt roads. Potholes abound and I will see abandoned cars, washing machines and other garbage accumulating and staying for very long periods of time. It feels like my neighborhood is a forgotten wasteland completely ignored by the city of San Francisco. I am a property owner and I pay my taxes but they certainly don't come back into this neighborhood. Read This Posty »

It is my opinion that the onerous building and planning codes in San Francisco are a significant factor contributing to the number of families who are leaving SF. We are dual income professionals who have a 2 year old with a 2nd child due in December. We love SF and would like to be able to stay in the city. We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase a small home in Bernal Heights about 3 years ago. With a 2nd child on the way, we are looking at expansion options for our 100 year old and 1,000 square Read This Posty »

I lived on nevada street for over 20 years and it was never once repaved. we left Bernal last summer and moved to 19th Ave (near Sloat). I love driving on good streets, it's much better for my car, but it shouldn't be that way. even now, when we go back to visit friends, i can tell we're in Bernal because the streets are just horrible. What does the city use to determine if and when streets are to be repaved, and fixed? I know the City is strapped for money, but we should be more even handed, and spread Read This Posty »

My pet peeve is that here on Bernal Heights (Banks Chapman area) we were forced to spend thousands of dollars so that PG&E could underground the wires - this project has been going on for 10 years now and we are still looking at the wires-when do we see something for all the money we spent?

I request that the main street--Cortland--in Bernal Heights be repaved. It is really one of the worst streets in the area and a paving would really help the spirit and people of the neighborhood and all those who drive through there.

I think you've done a good job as mayor. I like the way our city is running, and I believe you are doing your honest best to make the city better.
But there is one thing that literally stops me in my tracks here. The condition of our streets is appalling.
I invite you to ride a bicycle, motorcycle or small car from one end of Cortland Street to the other, as I did yesterday. It is one of the worst roads I've ever driven on. Anywhere. In the world. Wonder why Muni is never on time? Try driving a bus on Read This Posty »

Lack of street cleaning in Bernal Heights -- Cortland cross-streets, particularly.
Curbside plant areas full of weeds and trash; nothing of beauty, nothing to care about, making residents feel, and appear to be, the city's trash.
Lack of pride in all areas of the city; the appearance that only the districts where the rich live means anything to the powers that be.

Thank you for your offer to listen.
I would like Muni Service to improve to help my 12 year old son.
He goes to A.P. Gianinni Middle School and we live in Bernal Heights. I work for City College of San Francisco. I consider myself lucky to be able to have my son attend APG.
However, going to school and coming home has been a hassle for him.
There is a special Muni bus (#29 bus) to take children from his school to City College where I work. However, very often it is too crowded, a lot of children have to stand on the Read This Posty »

Dear Gavin Newsom,
My pet peeve is about my neighborhood, Bernal Heights. It's been almost two years since notices were posted in our neighborhood about the "neighborhood beautification project." In this project, all of the telephone poles in the neighborhood would come down and wiring would be placed underground. Our apartment at the time happened to be right next to a main electrical line for the neighborhood. Every day for months we woke up to drilling just outside our bedroom window. they would re-drill and fill this hole every day to do their work. There was construction going on all up Read This Posty »
