Do you see what you have let this once beautiful city become? Do you see the fury that people are beginning to feel about what you have let happen? Some of you have been on the board for almost as long as homelessness has been a problem. And what I remember is that all you could come up with was to fight any real attempt to fix this problem.
Consider Daly right now trying to take money away from the community court idea, not because he actually believes in anything or has any plan of his own, but just to put Read This Posty »

I have written to you and the supervisors about the taxi issue, but nothing has changed. The taxi system in San Francisco is the missing link. I take public transportation most of the time, but because getting a taxi to come when you need one is totally unreliable, I bought a car. (Read on)
It will do no good to have more cabs. The issue is that cabdrivers here are considered "independent contractors" and the cab companies just send out a call. The drivers may, or may not, pick you up. The cab companies can't tell you when, or even if, Read This Posty »

Maybe we should recall Daly. It would be a good start. I live in the downtown area. Too many crack dealers. This city has gotten worse. We need to recall politicians that are not doing their job. As Donald Trump would say " You're fired". Too many liberal special interest groups are putting a chokehold on the police. I thought the police were apathetic and don't care. But, that is not the case. Certain politicians are not allowing the police to do their job. I say fire the politicians and give the police more power. It is time to clean Read This Posty »

These rolling boom boxes - cars with high-power bass amplifiers - rattle the pans hanging in my kitchen. I can't escape the pounding. - T.P. Wilson in Parade magazine cover story on "The Most Unwanted Inventions."

[T]hey [quality of life infractions] pack a cumulative punch on our city economically...and culturally. - Editorial, "Qualify of life must be a city priority," San Francisco Chronicle, May 13, 2007.
As everyone living in or being in San Francisco for any reason knows, unless that person is deaf, automobile boomboxes have become one of the most insidious aggravations in this city. They are growing Read This Posty »

I live in the Tenderloin (Chris Daly's district, unfortunately) on O'Farrell near Jones. Most every day there is a nexus of "homeless" people and drug dealers gathered on the corner, littering, smoking crack, blocking the sidewalk, and generally bringing the quality of life in the neighborhood down for the rest of us. I've complained to police, but they do nothing. I'd like to see more enforcement in areas where these ne'er-do-wells concentrate. One or two of these people in a spot is one thing, but I often count up to 20 people gathered on this one corner. Get some police Read This Posty »

I recently received a few emails about Mayor Newsom's job performance. I am currently undecided although I do think he has done a good job overall. Here is why I am undecided:
Mayor Newsome refuses to follow Proposition I. I understand the arguments for not doing so, however he is responsible to us as voters. I feel this decision is very similar to a George Bush signing statement and I will not support a Mayor who does not support the will of the city.
Thank you for asking my opinion and please have the mayor reconsider his position.
Sincerely,

The way that the Board of Supervisors always votes like a high school clique. Always 9-2, or 10-1 or 11-0. Don't they have any independent thinking? This isn't what the founding fathers had in mind.

My biggest pet peeve right now is the way you pointlessly pick fights with the Supervisors -- even when they are right, e.g., police on the sidewalks -- just to oppose them. I'd rather you ignored them and tried to get through what you think is right. I'd also like to see more hard decisions, like giving Muni higher much priority over the roads, or opposing the initiative to increase parking discussed in today's Examiner.
Thanks for listening.

Supervisor Chris Daly's interpretation of quality of life is to step over homeless people laying out on the front of your porch or view them on the way to work. This is the quality of life that we working class people have been tolerating for years. Our city's improvements from Supervisor Chris Daly as Mayor would be similar to SOMA and the Tenderloin district.
I ask you San Franciscans do we want this type of lifestyle for our community? Our major problem that has been haunting our city is crime, filth, substance abusers, the mentally ill, homeless and it has increased, Read This Posty »

I cannot stand that we have a Board of Supervisors at all, much less such a biased and corrupt board. Nothing passes in the city but that this small group with very similar view points (not diverse in value or focus, much less political views) and corruption controls decisions and reaps the rewards of higher & higher taxes and propositions that actually change nothing in our city but pad pockets for the Supes and other 'higher ups'.

Supposedly our mayor is making public appearances all over town to take questions from citizens in lieu of appearing before the Board of Supervisors. All well and good in intent.
So, I click on your Calendar link on this web site and guess what? There is no calendar of Gavin's appearances for these public forums.
For a candidate who claims he wants debate and input, how about getting an accurate calendar online?
And BTW, even though I think Gavin is not doing everything he should. For example, what good does it do to call 311 and report graffiti on city signs if Read This Posty »

Supervisor Chris Daly who oversees the SOMA district, my district, has not made any significant improvements in my neighborhood and his priorities are discombobulated. Mr. Daly's policy is not triggered toward improvements in his district but he would rather have it remain as it is today, a ghetto. Mr. Daly should be representing the working class people who pay taxes and want changes in their community, instead his policies do nothing but leave us San Franciscans handling the burden of the homeless and the criminals. What type of Supervisor are you, Mr. Daly? You have done nothing constructive for the SOMA district, just look Read This Posty »

I have just been through this whole pet peeve section and was glad to see that the number one complaint is homeless drunks and junkies. Enough with the so-called "compassion" for these people. We are not helping them and they are ruining the city.
Two days ago I was on a bus and was subjected to a ten minute session of harassment from a drunk who thought I was staring at him. I wasn't, but that didn't matter to his liquor soaked brain.
I am glad we have a mayor who is trying to do something real about this problem, namely Read This Posty »

Hope you actually read these. What about fixing our city streets. I've lived in three different cities: Boston, Chicago and San Francisco. San Francisco's infrastructure in reminiscent of these other two cities in the 70s and 80s. Yet in this new Millenium and our city infrastructure is deplorable. The city is, frankly speaking, a dump! Meanwhile, other world class cities have improved their streets, infrastructure and sidewalks to the point that they truly "glisten". We are a city that appears as if it is in decline despite it's sizable tax base. Why? Completely wrong headed spending by a Board of Read This Posty »

My Pet Peeve how are you going to clean up the South Market area when you stuck with Chris Daly who is the Supervisor for my district. Every time when there is good for the welfare of the working class people who pay taxes on our salary every time we get paid have to deal with Chris Daly who turns around and objects to the proposals for the working class people. Chris Daly tends to focus only on the need. I read there will be units available for affordable housing in my district but if SOMA still remains like it Read This Posty »

I am one of the countless San Francisco citizens who signed the WiFi Petition. I am one of those many citizens who can't get on my own transit system, in particular for me, [it is the N Judah] just blocks from my home because it is not wheel-chair accessible. But because of the internet it allows me to gain access, news, and connects I can't ordinarily do on a daily, yea even weekly basis. I live on a small stipend so every penny for me really counts. Just to know that WiFi may be accessible, and available would be heaven Read This Posty »

It's unacceptable. The supervisors are not doing their job watching over their employees. I have seen with my own eyes employees pull out an overflowing can, letting the "overflow" do just that. UNACCEPTABLE. To those who are in charge of supervising these underachieving employees, please do YOUR job, supervise them. Our city is so dirty, but it really does not have to be. There's plenty of people out there willing to do a better job at the same wage. Hire someone who will help keep the city free of senseless debris.

I am tired of always getting reactions from out of towners when I say I am from San Francisco I get this reaction as though I have the plague. I blame the Supervisors of San Francisco Gerardo Sandoval and others. It's a sad day for a lifetime San Franciscan and Republican. This election I am voting to save my city!

That the Mayor, who has the right instincts, and popular support, continually backs down from attacks by the seven dwarfs on the Board of S.
What does opposing every plan because its not perfect get you? In my neighborhood, instead of housing and/or office space (and its accompanying service multiplyer) and computer training and services for neighborhood residents, we got A NEW PORNOGRAPHIC movie studio.
And its not like there are new jobs for the porn actors because we already had a pornographic movie studio, just smaller.
C'mon Gavin Stand UP!
