Dear Mayor Newsom:
Two things I believe to be important for the city:
First, it seems San Francisco is getting filthier. I am embarrassed by the detritis littering our streets. I can't imagine the impression the many tourists in SF take back to their homes. Both Chicago and New York are much cleaner than SF. Chinatown is especially horrific. There is a terrible stench on some of the streets, there is trash and filth everywhere and there are clothes hanging from balconies, which is especially unsightly and completely unnecessary. Cigarette butts line every block and not just in Chinatown. It would not Read This Posty »

Dear Mayor Newsom,
I voted for you last time and I have to honestly say I'm on the fence this time. I acknowledge the progress you've made in many big areas, but what irks me is the seeming stagnation of the day-to-day progress of basic city services -- and the one that gives me the most agita is of course, MUNI. Mayor Newsom, how is it that in 3 1/2 years MUNI, from this daily rider's perspective - is not one iota improved? I'm not talking Muni Metro - I'm talking about the crowded, broken down buses. I'm talking about the Read This Posty »

Dirty sidewalks in SF - they're filthy. When walking around the city, one must watch where they step in order to avoid stepped in dog sh*t..
Take a queue from Chicago and how they cleaned up their city through the use of sidewalk sweepers. Downtown Chicago is now one of the cleaner metropolitan cities simply as a result of keep the sidewalks clean.
The city could also be more proactive about ticketing dog owners who do not clean up after their pets.

After all of the talk, the Streets of San Francisco are still filthy and dirty, with trash, human waste and smelling of urine. Every time something new is built, it just becomes another unofficial homeless shelter. I pay too much in taxes but never get to enjoy this city. Those who are mentally ill should be taken off of the streets. Sometime I actually get scared that one of the really crazies is going to go off. We could have a "VT" situation one of these days if something more is not done. Stop the lip service and get those Read This Posty »

I'm sick and tired of the filth, garbage, human waste, and aggressive panhandling in neighborhoods like the Mission and around Market Street courtesy of the legions of homeless in this city. There's nothing like starting your morning by walking around the corner to witness another human being taking a crap on the sidewalk. Why is this such a huge issue in San Francisco and why is it such a herculean task create any sort of positive change in this area? Maybe it's the mild climate, the socially tolerant attitude, or perhaps the tendency of local government to turn a blind Read This Posty »

I love the city of San Francisco. Heck I moved here from my beloved Chicago because of how wonderful and diverse this grand city is. However, living here I have encountered three disturbing things that I must mention. 1. Car burglaries. It is a well-known fact that if you live in San Francisco you have had your car broken into. Often times more than once. Which leads me to my second disturbance. 2. Overwhelming and aggressive homeless population. Friends and myself have been grabbed walking down Market St. going to a shows at the Warfield. The homeless yell and follow Read This Posty »

The rift raft, beggars, homeless, and scammers that linger in SOMA, Union Sq, etc. pan handling. How is it that NYC and Chicago manage to resolve this, but it is a free for in SF. I get tired of being harassed, etc, constantly all day long.
