I think we need to fix up and clean-up China Town before some of those beautiful filthy old buildings fall apart.
Also just moved back to San Francisco (South Beach) after 16 years living abroad (Europe), I love the improvements to my home San Francisco but those Traffic Helicopters in the early morning hours are loud and unnecessary - with all the film experts in the city - just install wireless cameras along the bay bridge to report problems (maybe they are already there?). And if possible only allow helicopters to hover if the breaking news is life threatening (last Read This Posty »

I have been using public transportation in SF for a long time. Bus drivers! I noticed in recent years, most of them are downright mean and hostile. If riding a bus is not such a terrible experience and also run on something resembling a schedule, I'm sure more people would use public transportation, thus lessening the traffic problems and pollution. I really think this is achievable here in a beautiful city like SF. I know drivers have to deal with adersities but who doesn't? Sometimes, 3 buses all come at the same time, some of them speeding at a break Read This Posty »

Dear Mayor Newsom:
Two things I believe to be important for the city:
First, it seems San Francisco is getting filthier. I am embarrassed by the detritis littering our streets. I can't imagine the impression the many tourists in SF take back to their homes. Both Chicago and New York are much cleaner than SF. Chinatown is especially horrific. There is a terrible stench on some of the streets, there is trash and filth everywhere and there are clothes hanging from balconies, which is especially unsightly and completely unnecessary. Cigarette butts line every block and not just in Chinatown. It would not Read This Posty »

THE CITY IS ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT NOT HAVING ENOUGH REVENUE. I HAVE WORKED IN CHINATOWN FOR 3 YRS & HAVE NOTICED THAT MOST OF THE AUTOS ON THE ST. HAVE HANDICAP CARDS. THIS INCLUDES TRUCKS DOING CONSTRUCTION. THE CITY JUST HAS TO LOOK AT THE REVENUE FOR PARKING METERS & KNOW THERE'S A PROBLEM. I HAVE EVEN BEEN APPROACHED TO BUY ONE SO I CAN DRIVE TO WORK & PARK FREE. THIS WAS IN THE CHRONICLE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO & STILL NOTHING IS BEING DONE. OVER ALL THE MAYOR IS DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB & WILL VOTE FOR Read This Posty »

I made the mistake of taking Powell St in making my way to North Beach yesterday. I quickly remembered why I had stopped taking that route and my pet peeve. It's difficult to believe that it's possible to double park cars on a Chinatown street for two hours during the morning commute, every morning. You'd be wrong if you bet against it. Beginning around 6:45 A.M. firefighters coming on duty, illegally, double park their cars on Powell St. They go in, shower, shave and have coffee. After 8:30 A.M., they begin to shift their cars with the firefighters going off Read This Posty »

Why is this to only clean up Union Square? It sounds to me like something to impress the "fat cats" that roll through town and only shop/stay at hotels in that part of San Francisco. The whole darn city is gosh darn filthy! Try walking down Townsend Street, then Division Street, and through the Mission District. There is trash strewn everywhere, used hypodermic needles are all over, and ( though this would not be considered "trash" ) I have seen people walking Pit Bull Terriers without leashes. Let me repeat, I have seen people with Pit Bulls that are not Read This Posty »

To Mr. Gavin Newsom,
Hi. my name is Jason. I am currently a highschool senior attending Galileo. My AP Government teacher told me to email you about an issue I saw in the city so decided to listen to him even though its extra credit. I have lived in the Chinatown neighborhood for a long time and today I still go there to do community service. And every weekend when I am at Portsmouth Square, it is filthy and full of spit on the floor. Alot of people that use that are do not necessarily take care of it. And everytime Read This Posty »

One thing I have been noticing in S.F are the constant dirty streets. Every where I see people throwing garbage on the floor and not onto the garbage cans. During saturdays, my volunteer organization would clean up Chinatown alleyways so the elderly and children would feel safe crossing the streets. I dislike how people would constantly throw garbage on the streets and ignore the environment.

Trees: Plant more trees; require every home and apartment to have at least one street tree
Illegal units: Crack down on illegal units; fine the owners; prevent residential use of units that are not up-to-code
Parking: Enforce no-parking-on-sidewalk rules; give property owners tax incentives to keep front yards unpaved
Muni Metro: Have more trains and use two cars; trains are too crowded morning and evening and not frequent enough in off hours; do not lower fares ñ that will just encourage the homeless to ride; fewer people would drive if the trains were not so unpleasant; bus lane on Geary is smart, underground Read This Posty »

I love my beautiful city as a resident of this community, I want what is best for our city. There are so many problems that our cities face, but we should tackle one problem at a time.
Mayor Newsom has accomplished many problems which other Mayors has not solved. The statistics shows for itself. He is doing a great job and you bond to have people who are never satisfied. I noticed that the United Nations Plaza has fewer homeless people there. However, his personal/private life is no concern but his own. He bravely focus on problems that is what is Read This Posty »
