Our business is in the downtown area. We strongly support the Community Justice Center. Last week walking into my office, I observed 2 men injecting drugs sitting on the sidewalk. Children were walking past on their way home from school. There must be something more that we can do about these situations.
Regards,
BJ

In my continuing frustration walking to and from the Powell Street MUNI/Bart Station to my place of work near Union Square, a friend let me know about this website. Frankly, I am doubtful this will help, but will give it a try. For me, and thousands of others who have to use this station to get to work, this becomes representative of what San Francisco is like to LIVE in. Unfortunately, I do not have the good fortune of working around the Montgomery Station or Embarcadero. Every day without fail, I am treated to what is like a human toilet Read This Posty »

Do you see what you have let this once beautiful city become? Do you see the fury that people are beginning to feel about what you have let happen? Some of you have been on the board for almost as long as homelessness has been a problem. And what I remember is that all you could come up with was to fight any real attempt to fix this problem.
Consider Daly right now trying to take money away from the community court idea, not because he actually believes in anything or has any plan of his own, but just to put Read This Posty »

I think my biggest pet peeve is that elected officials in SF must cloak matters of law and order in Social Services terms. The Tenderloin is plagued with open drug and alcohol abuse, public urination, panhandling, theft, vandalism. Call the community court a way to bring both justice and relief to SF residents instead of a way to bring Social Services to bums and alcoholics who SF prevents from hitting their own personal rock bottom. Which by the way is what is required to get on the road to recovery.

I am not impressed by your proposal for community courts or anything else you propose until you address the glaring problem of violence and homicide in the City. Until you deal with those issues effectively, everything else is just politics as usual.

My Pet Peeve is Chris Daly who I vote for the first time around. I cannot believe he is so stubborn and cannot see the light regarding the condition of San Francisco especially in the SOMA and Tenderloin area. Is Chris Daly that close minded that he cannot see that a Community Court will benefit our City. I am a native of San Francisco born and raise here. Most of the Homeless people urinate at ATM machines and sleep in alley ways with their carts, blankets that are disgusting looking and smell. Read This Posty »

Why is this to only clean up Union Square? It sounds to me like something to impress the "fat cats" that roll through town and only shop/stay at hotels in that part of San Francisco. The whole darn city is gosh darn filthy! Try walking down Townsend Street, then Division Street, and through the Mission District. There is trash strewn everywhere, used hypodermic needles are all over, and ( though this would not be considered "trash" ) I have seen people walking Pit Bull Terriers without leashes. Let me repeat, I have seen people with Pit Bulls that are not Read This Posty »

The continuing problem with the "hard core" homeless in our neighborhoods and parks needs to be addressed aggressively. I'm all for Care Not Cash and the Community Courts Initiative, but Mayor Newsom needs to realize that homelessness is still plaguing lots of SF neighborhoods and causing a serious decline in our quality of life. I've lived in the Haight Ashbury for 17 years, and I have so many horror stories about encounters with homeless people in my neighborhood that I could fill hundreds of web pages! My personal favorite is the time that my 11-year old nephew was visiting from Read This Posty »

Dear Mayor Newsom,
Your proposal for a similar Quality of Life community court system like the one in NYC sounds good. We have been waiting for you to finally get around to addressing quality of life issues for some time now. Actually, we have been waiting for the last four years for you to do something to help us. Your office of community services has ignored us for the last four years, as a matter of fact we do not even know if they know we exist. Our e-mails have gone unanswered by them. So we just gave up trying to Read This Posty »
