Could there be a more selfish neighborhood in SF (maybe all of the country)? No yogurt! No late night pizza! No new housing! No!!! No!!! No more alcohol!!!! No street fair!!! What a joke. There is a crime, murder, homeless, trash, MUNI, housing, etc. problem in town. If these spoiled and selfish clowns looked around for once and focused even a quarter of that energy they waste on killing businesses and entertainment in this TOWN maybe we would actually be progressing and solving some problems here in SF.

Get rid of her please so the cops can be motivated to bust criminals again and actually obtain some suspects. I'm sorry but she is a joke. SF's murder and crime rates are on the rise while other WORLD CLASS cities like Chicago, LA, and NY are decreasing.

I love San Francisco and don't want it to change. My friends and I can buy and trade drugs openly, throw our garbage on the street, disobey traffic laws (even with the SFPD present - those lazy f*cks) and even commit burglary and know we won't be pursued. Keep up the good work Chief Fong!!

This all occurred within 5 hours, I believe they are related to each other, the violence took place not far from each other. I hope we do not end up rating like Oakland which is Number 4 in the Nation where is not safe. You need foot patrol police uniform who can tackle this problem that is rising in S.F. which is violence. Maybe you should think about getting rid of the Chief of S.F. and replace with someone who the Police Officers see as a Leader for the Department.

I sincerely hope you are still reading this site Mr. Mayor, and not ignoring it now that's you've won the reelection. In either event, I have made three recent phone calls to the non emergency police line in the past week to report serious harassment by crack-smoking thugs on the 500 block of Hyde street towards anyone passing by and interrupting their glorious and ever-protected cocaine smoking binge, only to have had the line ring, ring ring and ring...with NO answer!! On the third attempt, they took my info and said someone would be coming right over. 45 minutes later Read This Posty »

My wife's car was broken into in the parking lot at the Pottery Barn at Market and Castro three hours ago. She's still waiting for the police to come and take a report.
I know the police are busy putting up "Yes on F" signs, but we live in the city and pay our taxes. Somebody needs to step up and take responsibility for the criminals which this city fosters in it's low income housing.

Gavin Newsom failed to keep his promise to reduce the number of murders in the city and he should resign. In Newsom's first year as mayor, he announced on KFOG radio that if he could not reduce the number of killings in the city, a recall petition should be initiated and he might even sign the petition. Well, Mayor, the murders in the city have gone up, up, up during your administration, and are likely to reach triple digits for the first time in over ten years. In Willie Brown's eight years as mayor, the highest murder rate was 84 Read This Posty »

My pet peeves with SF are the unreliability of Muni (why does it take me 1 hour to travel 5 miles!) and also the trash/graffiti/crime problem, especially in the southeast side of the City.

Mr. Newsom,
You need to be much more proactive in preventing crime and homeless solicitations in SOMA, the Tendorloin & Market Street. Numerous visitors & friends of mine have commented on how "ugly & nasty the problem is" specifically in high traffic tourist areas. I lived in NYC when Mayor Guiliani was in office and he cleaned all of Manhattan up with a strengthened police force, you definitely need to do the same from 6th street to 2nd Street, Market to Brannan. This starts with simply having a police presence and the rest will take care of itself.
~Thanks,

I don't know if this is a pet peeve or a smart solution. The city's Sanctuary Law has had the unintended consequence of allowing drug dealers to "hide" amongst those looking for work. This has impeded the ability of the police department to aggressively address drug dealing and the "magnet" issues that come with it (drug abuse, public drinking, public urination, etc.). Isn't it possible to enact two ordinances that will let people look for work, and let the people engaged in criminal activity "stand out"?
1. I think I have seen your "sit and lie" proposal or loitering proposal. If Read This Posty »

I'm reaching a point of being completely fed up about a quality-of-life issue that never seems to be addressed.
I firmly believe that the recycling center on the Market St. Safeway property has become a public nuisance and should be closed. Since we now have curbside recycling from every SF household, the only purpose the Community Recyclers facility serves is to create an "industry" of theft, where homeless people go through peoples' recycling bins, stealing recyclables and strewing trash all over the street, so that they can sell the recyclables at the recycling center.
This is NOT a victimless crime. My neighbors Read This Posty »

As a native San Franciscan (multi generation) and very proud that I am, we moved out of what should be considered a safe and desirable SF neighborhood (Cal and Van Ness) to Oakland when our baby was born last year. There were many reasons why I felt forced out of my city, but let met touch on just a few.
1) Walking outside our apartment in the early evening to see someone hunched over the next morning we found two needles
2) Having someone defecate in our driveway ramp (multiple times)
3) Prostitutes walking their beat down our street
4) Repeated vehicle vandalism (every Read This Posty »

My car has been broken into twice in the past six months and I have seen an increase in the amount of broken glass from other break-ins in the past month +. I imagine this is a tough problem to solve, but it sours me on the idea of living in this city, not knowing if I am going to wake up to a car with a broken window each morning.

The number of times every day where I see glass from broken out car windows versus the proportion of police officers in the neighborhoods in question, there needs to be a stronger AND visible police presence, crimes will only increase if you do not show the criminals that their actions will lead to convictions.

I, and many others I'm sure, are extremely frustrated over the City's inability to get criminals off the streets. I don't know why there is so little cooperation or oversight over the various city/county agencies, but the net result is a revolving door down at 850 Bryant. Someone commits a crime and is arrested by the police. The police don't arrest someone unless they have probable cause, so there is a pretty good chance the arrestee is guilty.
The arrestee then goes into the care of the Sheriff and at that point the cops lose ownership. Now the Sheriff's office can Read This Posty »

This school should be moved to the Presidio. It brings crime to an otherwise peaceful and quiet neighbor.

A female friend of mine got mugged at the corner of 16th and Mission. There were people around, but no one lifted a finger or even a cell phone to help her. She was more mad at the bystanders than at her assailant (who she kicked in the crotch and got away from). Thieves and muggers feel they can do this more if people don't stand up for each other!!
