Last Friday, in the Dolores Park area (one of the most gentrified in the city), I saw one police car per block - that is, police cars everywhere. I wish I'd see a similar deployment in the Bayview. There was a shooting right in front of my house a couple of weeks ago, and I don't see more police cars after that.

Um, how is it that the city dpt permits double parking for "church" events. Just look at Dolores and Guerrero any given Sunday...

Inadequate restroom facilities, garbage collection, illegal parking. Apparently it is acceptable to expect the city's taxpayers (home owners) to "underwrite" these events- events I am more than happy to embrace, if it were not for the trampling of MY neighborhood every single time. What's up with that?

I have lived at the corner of 18th Street and Dolores for almost 9 years. I have three children, and we love having Dolores Park so close by. These days there are approximately 10,000 people in Dolores Park every weekend. On weekends where there are special events, like Opera performances, Symphony performances, Mime Troop shows, that number can double or triple. I love all the activity in the park! BUT! There is not now, nor has there ever been, a pedestrian crossing signal at the corner of 18th and Dolores. We thought it would be installed as part of the

For example, when I go to the Civic Center farmer's market, homeless men follow me around and hit on me. They don't do this to men because when I go to the market with my neighbor Chuck, believe me the homeless men don't even look at me.
When I walk down the street and pass Dolores Park, unless it is a weekend and the park is packed, the homeless men think it's fine to try and chat me up. These are men with no power in society, but they can have power over women by being sexist assholes.
