DPT officers ticketing parked cars for being over the time limit but passing by all the traffic-slowing double parkers. Cut down on double parkers, cut down on traffic congestion.

There are right now four cars within a block of my house completely blocking the sidewalk in the 200 block of Ney Street (on the Congdon end). This is a perennial problem, along with double parking, in the neighborhood that never seems to be punished.

Please enforce double-parking regs along main traffic corridors like Mission Street during rush hour! It creates a dangerous situation, since other drivers have to change lanes rapidly, congests traffic by cutting four lanes down to two, and worsens traffic flow by preventing right-on-red. It is dangerous to bikers & pedestrians to have that right-on-red turn unexpectedly made from the *left* lane because the right lane was blocked by a double-parked vehicle. With consistent ticketing in key areas, not only will the word get around not to double-park at rush hour; but city revenue will increase.

Traffic moves when everyone follows the rules. Traffic backs up when people double park. An easy solution is to have parking officers circle main Downtown and neighborhood commercial streets constantly to ticket, tow and move double parkers.

Pet peeves: double parking on Irving, Noriega, and Taraval to get food at restaurant.
Not stopping fully at STOP signs
Sunset Scavengers ZIPPING through intersections
Parking in the FIRE zone at Safeway and no one enforces the law
I would rather go on the roof or go around the block than break the law. And if ever an emergency did appear, there could be a law suit because
emergency vehicle could not gain access.
Please enforce some rules and perhaps people would get the idea

It's miserable. It's too cold here. We are trying to grow our own food but it's hopeless. (Thank you for letting me vent.)
Otherwise, I would complain about loud motorcycles and noise pollution mostly from traffic. There are no quiet zones. Not enough trees. And trucks and cars that leave their motors running while parked or double parked.

My pet peeve is that the police do nothing about the double parked cars all over the city. It may seem like a minor irritation, but, as a mobile notary, it is very difficult to get around the city. The police could mention to drivers to move on, to not double park. All it would take would be a comment from an officer, not necessarily a ticket which I know they don't usually give. Please make this known to the police and urge the officers to tell people to move on. Many thanks.

I made the mistake of taking Powell St in making my way to North Beach yesterday. I quickly remembered why I had stopped taking that route and my pet peeve. It's difficult to believe that it's possible to double park cars on a Chinatown street for two hours during the morning commute, every morning. You'd be wrong if you bet against it. Beginning around 6:45 A.M. firefighters coming on duty, illegally, double park their cars on Powell St. They go in, shower, shave and have coffee. After 8:30 A.M., they begin to shift their cars with the firefighters going off Read This Posty »

People who double park all along Mission street, like it is nothing more than a side street! It is a MAJOR thoroughfare that I would not dare to double park in. Tag 'em, tag 'em tag 'em.

The double-parked trucks that park throughout the downtown and financial area every morning are a hassle and safety hazard. It is very frustrating trying to navigate through the streets with so many trucks strewn all over the place. Seeing the bad habit of these trucks, cars have started picking up on it, too, and it is all to frequent to see random cars double-parked throughout the streets.
Why aren't all of these people (commercial or otherwise) ticketed?

Double parked delivery trucks on busy streets are dangerous to drivers and pedestrians, often impede Muni buses, and are generally a real problem with driving in San Francisco. All too often, you will see a UPS of FedEX or USPS truck double parked with empty parking spaces nearby - as if the drivers would rather block traffic than walk 10-15 feet with their loads. Beer trucks double park near every corner grocery in the City at some point in the day, again sometimes ignoring open parking spaces nearby.
Worse yet, it is common to see DPT and SFPD officers driving past Read This Posty »

PLEASE enforce fines/citations for people that double park (i.e. Chestnut, Union St., Fillmore, Union Square, Etc.). It's all over the city and has gotten to be so accepted that when I give a small honk to get them to move because they are blocking the street - I'm all of a sudden perceived as the bad guy.
I've heard about the shortfall on parking meter revenue, well, I know a sure way to close that gap!!!

1) Please do something about our Homeless problem! Downtown and Market Street are disgusting. I hate the fact that I have to tolerate aggressive homeless people everywhere I go. I've also had several very negative experiences with homeless people on the bus lately.
2) Please restrict people from double parking on Broadway during rush hour. It completely screws up traffic.

Double parkers!!! But also when people park in a way that takes up extra space and doesnt allow as many cars as could have parked. My solution to this is to hire the homeless to paint parking spaces large enough to accomadate most cars. If a vehicle is too big they will have to pay for an exemption to take up two spaces or they will be ticketed. Also could exempt handicapped, city vehicles, etc, but the Hummers will have to pay!!

From a Native San Franciscan
Solution: SFPD pulls IN FRONT of offenders and hands them a ticket. No \"move along\" crap. Hit them with a ticket and you'll clean up the streets, reduce stress/tension/accidents/crime and generate valuable funds for sorely needed social programs. FYI: SF's 49 square miles. There isn't enough room for LEGITIMATE traffic much less parking scafflows who know the odds are extremely low for a cop to show up and write them a ticket IN THE RARE OCCASION that a cop even shows up. These same violaters know they're wrong and that EVERY time they clog up the Read This Posty »

I have several, actually:
1.) I work in the financial district and I see the same vehicles parked in the same metered spaces every darn day. The meters indicate the time is expired--every day.
No one seems to be getting a citation. What's up with that?!
2.) There has been some progress on this one--double parking. There still seems to be double parking going on, probably because they know they'll get away with it.
3.) panhandlers/beggers seem to be stationed at every BART entrance and every tourist area. I am asked for money every darn day!

Dear Mayor Newsom,
Crime is the number one problem in San Francisco and I see no effort to solve it. I see pedestrians ignore crossing signals preventing cars from making their turns. I see bicyclists racing down the sidewalk, knocking down anybody too old to get out of their way fast enough. I see cars run redlights, turn when pedestrians have the right of way and park on our sidewalks. I see MUNI weaving around double parked cars in the bus lanes. I see selfish, greedy behaviours that endanger the lives of others.
I have never seen anyone get a ticket for Read This Posty »
