Being put on hold at the DPT
November 8th, 2007 9:48 am

Have red zones painted by garage. Car parks I call DPT and wait-wait-wait or else they say that a ticket will be issued and no one comes. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Parking tickets for parking in my driveway
October 25th, 2007 1:08 pm

I just don't understand why, when I park in my own driveway to unload groceries to feed my family, the DPT gives me a $100 ticket.  these tickets for parking in our driveways are a huge burden for hard working San Franciscans who are just trying to live our lives.  Can't mayor newsome help us by stopping this practice of the DPT?  Nobody seriously thinks parking in your own driveway is a crime, this is just a way to get money from people who don't have enough money to start with. DPT should REFUND AUTOMATICALLY over-payments
October 10th, 2007 7:50 am

Or create an account for folks that they can be credited. I missed a refund on a recent item and DPT had 'gobbled' it up! It is ILLEGAL! Tx! Chris Manders Read This Posty »

Complaining to DPT does nothing
October 10th, 2007 7:49 am

DPT are frequently inappropriate in remarks and attitudes. Also, some ticketing appears to be intended to fill a quota. I have noted that many un-metered parking areas are ticketed without first assuring that the actual time is over the limit. Complaining to DPT does nothing. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Not ticketing double parkers
September 24th, 2007 7:54 am

DPT officers ticketing parked cars for being over the time limit but passing by all the traffic-slowing double parkers. Cut down on double parkers, cut down on traffic congestion. Chad Read This Posty »

Job tickets fall into a black hole
September 21st, 2007 7:23 am

Dear Mr. Mayor: 311 is great, they take my reports. Too bad the job tickets they write fall into a black hole of unresponsive, do nothing city departments who fail miserably to actually get the work completed. I'm am specifically speaking of either the City Sign Shop or the DPT. There are two eye level Street Cleaning signs on either side of Alabama Street near 20th Street that vandals have ripped out of the frame and stolen. I've called this into 311 at least 4 times over 4 months and the signs have yet to be replaced. I called you office, spoke Read This Posty »

Red Light Runners & JayWalkers
August 20th, 2007 9:53 am

The number of drivers running red lights! The number of pedestrians jaywalking! Both incidents affect me daily. Cars going through lights well after the light has changed and people walking across intersections long after the light has changed or even when it's glaring red or not even crossing at an intersection or crosswalk! The budget for DPT could be doubled it seems if these laws were actually being enforced! Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Sidewalk parking enforcement
July 17th, 2007 10:08 am

Please give some attention to the issue of the rising number of cars parked on the sidewalk and the unwillingness of DPT to enforce the existing law prohibiting it.  In my 13 years in San Francisco it has become increasingly harder every year to be a pedestrian. Recently, I have been often forced to venture out into the street with my three year old to avoid a car "parked in their driveway". When I contacted the DPT about scofflaws parking on the sidewalk to avoid street cleaning tickets the officer in charge told me that it was allowed and that I Read This Posty »

Stolen Cars in the Marina
June 15th, 2007 7:29 am

Gavin, you were behind me in line at Walgreen's on Chestnut last year when I told you about my car being stolen out of my driveway. The rest of the story is, I got a delinquent parking ticket, and drove to Sea Cliff where the ticket was issued 6 weeks before. It was parked on the street near the ticket location. I called the police and had it impounded. They obviously did not open the car, because at the tow company the next day, I found in the car: 2 file boxes full of car registrations-at least 200 separate cars Read This Posty »

Garbage Problem in SF
June 4th, 2007 8:53 am

I live in Russian Hill--around Jones and Greenwich. People are leaving garbage on the corners all the time--things that they don't want.  I know that the DPT picks it up but it is so unsightly.  My biggest pet peeve, however, is the overall garbage problem in SF--it went from a very clean city to a dirty, garbage ridden city. What can we do to clean things up? Name Withheld Read This Posty »

BART and DPT
May 28th, 2007 1:58 pm

My husband is the chef at Globe. The restaurant does a service to the city by serving good food until 1 AM. Since BART doesn't run much past midnight, he has to drive. The meters/tickets are outrageous and to park in a lot monthly is also outrageous. What's the solution? Susie Modlano Read This Posty »

The DPT in our city is OUT OF CONTROL
May 23rd, 2007 1:43 pm

The parking situation is bad enough without the DPT raping us for minimal "violations" like wheels not being turned in enough on a flat street (not even a hill) or any ticket for that matter.  The DPT in our city is OUT OF CONTROL.  The fees charged are outrageous and more than most places in the country, also given more liberally, so that even overly cautious drivers and parkers like myself who have lived in the city for years are still getting raped to pad the rich, deep pockets of the DPT.  Thanks for punishing the citizens of your city Read This Posty »

The DPT
May 11th, 2007 7:18 am

I went in person to pay for a parking ticket.  I had a check ready filled out.  They would not accept it - told me I had to mail it in...???  Also, some of the street cleaning signs have disappeared - people should NOT get tickets when there are no signs within viewing distance from parking spot Javier Bastidas Read This Posty »

GOVERNMENT PROTECTED DOUBLE PARKING
May 9th, 2007 12:53 pm

I made the mistake of taking Powell St in making my way to North Beach yesterday. I quickly remembered why I had stopped taking that route and my pet peeve. It's difficult to believe that it's possible to double park cars on a Chinatown street for two  hours during the morning commute, every morning.  You'd be wrong if you bet against it.  Beginning around 6:45 A.M. firefighters coming on duty, illegally, double park their cars  on Powell St.  They go in, shower, shave and have coffee.  After 8:30 A.M., they begin  to shift their cars with the firefighters going off Read This Posty »

Parking in Potrero Hill
May 8th, 2007 2:53 pm

I've been caught in a permit parking Catch-22 for several years now. I can't get a permit to park my car in my own neighborhood because my building is located on one of two blocks in the whole area that are not part of the "X" permit parking zone. But another unit IN THE SAME BUILDING can get a parking permit because it has a separate entrance (and address) on a cross-street that's included in the permit parking zone. I've gone round and round with the DPT over this situation and even appealed to Sophie Maxwell, my supervisor, without success. Read This Posty »

Graffiti, break-ins, traffic and the homeless
May 8th, 2007 1:53 pm

I love this city!  It's been wonderful to me and i want to see it improve.  It hurts to see such a beautiful city (1) plagued with graffiti, I don't know what the intrigue is, but it's everywhere.  Maybe I'd understand if I could actually read what it is, but for the most part, it's some jerk's street name or the posse he runs with or whatever and it's less than artistic to say the least.  (2) My car was been broken into twice within a month in the Lower Haight district.  I didn't even bother reporting the second incident Read This Posty »

Cab Drivers who ignore the “No Parking-Fireplug” law
May 8th, 2007 1:34 pm

Every day between 6:30 AM and 9 AM if you pass by Howard and Third Streets, there is a fleet of taxicabs who like to park on the NE corner- directly in front of two palinly marked red-zone fireplugs. It seems the DPT could earn the City some fresh money DAILY if they would only enforce these malignant cab drivers who seem to think  a fireplug means you can park there- man, there's no meter! I am really (really) sick of seeing them there, never getting tickets... Name Withheld Read This Posty »

I want traffic and parking laws applied equally
April 26th, 2007 11:31 am

My pet peeve is the hypocrisy of parking law enforcement by the City. The S.F.F.D. requested "red zones" be painted next to their firehouses (eg. Broadway & Powell) to make it easier and faster for their engines and trucks to enter and leave the firehouse.  This is very important and San Franciscans should give up the right to park there. However, everyday (24/7) the private automobiles of firefighters are parked in the "red zones" contributing to slower response times that the "red zones" were to avoid.  These cars are never ticketed. I asked DPT why and their response was as follows. Read This Posty »

Double-Parked Trucks
April 20th, 2007 7:56 am

Double parked delivery trucks on busy streets are dangerous to drivers and pedestrians, often impede Muni buses, and are generally a real problem with driving in San Francisco. All too often, you will see a UPS of FedEX or USPS truck double parked with empty parking spaces nearby - as if the drivers would rather block traffic than walk 10-15 feet with their loads. Beer trucks double park near every corner grocery in the City at some point in the day, again sometimes ignoring open parking spaces nearby. Worse yet, it is common to see DPT and SFPD officers driving past Read This Posty »
