I've only seen fare inspectors in the subway. Everyone knows that fare evaders are most common on the buses. This is a waste of resources. Overcrowding on 21 Hayes in AM commute.

Mayor Newsom,
Has the City ever tried to collect bus fares on the 38 Geary bus from 48th Ave to about Van Ness Ave?
I take the bus on occasion from Park Presidio, 12th Ave, 9th Ave and 6th Ave, heading east.
Invariably, the bus will become crowded and it will become difficult to board the bus through the front door. The public will then board the bus through the rear doors WITHOUT paying!
I have never seen fare enforcement on any bus in SF. It's a free ride for everyone, except those who feel it's wrong or who have purchased Fast Passes.
You could

1. Unreliable Muni Metro service on weekday rush hour times. Why is it that when there are the most people waiting for a train, the system runs only one-car (as opposed to two-car) trains? It's also frustrating to me that the "No food or drink" rule on Muni is pretty much universally ignored. I've never seen it enforced, nor have I ever seen a bus driver confront a fare evader who boards from the back door. I'm sure that the drivers see a lot and endure a lot, but if the public is given the idea that the rules don't

My pet peeve: people who cheat on their Muni fares. The thing that really bugs me about this is that those who don't pay are shooting themselves in the foot & they're too stupid to see it: stealing money from Muni hurts mainly the people who actually use the system (such as the cheater), because it makes it harder for Muni to offer better service.
The other thing that drives me crazy about this problem is that it seems to have such a simple solution: have an officer occasionally show up on buses or streetcars, ask people to produce their proof

My biggest would be the incesant crack/meth smoking/dealing on the Hyde street blocks below Sutter Street. This has seemed to become a true haven for users/dealers lately and I RARELY see police addressing this excrutiatingly preditable activity. Also, NEVER seen a Muni official stop people from entering the back of 38 line during rush hour. It is claimed they do, but I've nebver missed a ride in 3 years living here and haven't seen even ONE yet. WHY do I continue to pay $45/month when it is THAT easy to steal a ride?! Lastly, those damn Harley Davidsons. They could
