Last evening about 6:00 in the daylight there were two shootings on Larkin, some say three people were killed, drug deals gone bad the word was. There seem to be as many if not more drug dealers as there were 4 years ago. Not only is this bad for the community it also is a sad situation for the families of the individuals who were killed. I live on Larkin, a very diverse street. This is a major street the continuation on 9th Street and a community of families and businesses. Drugs and homelessness are a big problem in the Read This Posty »

My latest pet peeve is that mayor Newsom and the San Francisco Police Department have ignored the pleas from me and many other law-abiding San Franciscans to do SOMETHING about the crime and violence in our neighborhoods.
Routinely when I call the police non-emergency line about homeless camping, people fighting, or people shooting up in doorways next to my apartment, NOTHING is done. Sometimes I'm lied to that something will be done or was done the last time I called. In all cases, I am ignored.
I've posted repeatedly on this very pet peeve blog my experiences dealing with the police Read This Posty »

Where to begin...
The beggars plying their trade in this city are not "homeless" and it would be nice if I could go to the store w/out constantly being accosted! We need laws enforced for the benefit of taxpaying citizens, so firing the incompetent token of a police chief would be a good start. And btw, Polk street from Union on down is a sewer. Aren't there laws on the books about keeping the front of businesses CLEAN? The DPW is MIA in SF. Enough pandering to poverty pimps and bums and throwing good $ away on gangs who respond to Read This Posty »

I'm sitting here looking out my apartment window at the gang of 5 or 6 homeless who have made camp in Hallidie Plaza by the Powell St. BART station.
They're there when I go to work, when I go to school, when I go to dinner, when I go to catch a train, when I come home from work, when I come home from school, when I look out my window.
Their bags and garbage and guitars and skateboards strewn about the plaza. Their litter blowing all over the place in the wind.
I see people shooting up in the plaza, Read This Posty »

The evidence is new gang name spray painting everywhere and gunfire during late night and early morning hours - occasionally fully automatic.

People are dying out there, man! HOMICIDES!
Yeah making SF a green city, great, but is that really that important when people are being KILLED? There are SERIOUS DRUG and GANG problems.
Hopefully you are aware of this? I know there are police shortages but you have REALLY GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS

The following quote is from an SFGate article on 6/5/07: "The Tenderloin and Market Street area is a new hotbed of drug dealing,'' said Lt. John Murphy of the homicide detail. He said he has spoken to investigators in police gang and narcotics units about the spike in violence brought on by dealers and customers from outside the city.
WHAT A JOKE! We who live in the Tenderloin have been complaining to the Mayor, City Council and Police for more than two years about the growing drug dealing problem. What have any of them done???? NOTHING! I guess they think it Read This Posty »

I am a San Francisco native. My husband and I subscribe to the Best of Broadway series. Being night workers, we usually do matinees; however, our tickets for "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" (Golden Gate Theatre) were for 8 PM. We usually have a pre-show beer at Original Joe's. I have NEVER in my life seen so many theatre-goers actually scurry in fear from the teeming masses of homeless camped all over the sidewalks and even in the street...my husband and I never scurry--like I said, I was born here and I am not afraid to "cross the gauntlet" as Read This Posty »

Market Street at Seventh Street is a mess with gangs and thieves market every day and night. It's killing our business. Something has to be done before someone gets hurt or killed, again!

When is something going to be done about the high level of crime in this city? I live at ** Eddy, across from Jefferson Park. I just read about the third murder at the corner of Laguna and Eddy in less than three months. It is unbelievable that murderers are so blatant in their taking of life!
I attended the neighborhood meetings at the time the public housing was in the building phase after the slum had been pulled down. Constantly the question was asked, "Who will be living in the projects and how Read This Posty »

Too many police motorcycle officers are assigned to escort dignitaries instead of being on the streets enforcing traffic laws and catching criminals. Does any other Bay Area city use 25 officers to escort people in their jurisdiction? This is police union featherbedding! Gangs and murderers all use cars to commit crimes and I bet they're uninsured, stolen, or have expired plates.

How can this happen? how can they take a city hostage?
One solution that comes to mind is Schools. The city has to promote itself in school auditoriums. If the Mayor and Supervisors don't want to go into schools as representatives of how our cities work then we know why there are gangs.

Hello there:
I have several concerns but at this time I can not offer any solutions, can anybody address these issues?
1. BREAKING LAWS; SAFETY ISSUE:
There is a serious breakdown of rude, disrespectful, non-courteous drivers in cars, not obeying the pedestrian cross walk rules or the laws. This problem occurs every single day in any given part of the city. Pedestrians crossing at the cross walk and the driver of the car does not yield at all when the ped is in the middle of the crosswalk. They drive right next to you in the cross walk and many times they Read This Posty »

It is getting worse and worse- it is not only ugly & destructive to property, it also invites crime, violence, theft, continued vandalism & gang rivalry to neighborhoods.
Please do something about it. Perhaps some jobless folks could be put to work in cleaning it up- and keeping it clean?
The tagging on the Munis is even worse- the child gang members have the windows so scratched up you can hardly see out of the windows.
This is a political homerun if you can adress this- NO ONE likes the tagging.
Thanks, Mayor.
