Most people I know are concerned about global warming, but it's seldom brought up because of the dismally defeatist attitude that lingers about it. It's extremely difficult to change the way people conduct their lives, and thats why SF needs stronger leadership and more tangible goals to attain (one thing at a time) in the fight against climate change. I don't understand why this isn't brought up more in local politics. Sure, it's a world issue, but is San Francisco not a part of the world?

Although the intention is good, I believe a serious error is made when promoting green lifestyle when it comes to the Fluorescent Lights. Yes it has a lower wattage usage but is it worth the horrible efforts of fluorescence lights? In addition what about the mercury that is used in these bulbs. It becomes a toxic waste to try and dispose.
I beleive the real green living is with LED light technoloy not Flourence. Better for the enviroment and our health.
I am one against the use of the fluorence lights. Bad for people and bad for the planet. Think

My pet peeve is that this city keeps trying to bill itself as "green" and "progressive" yet does nothing to earn the title. Gavin Newsom seems to think being green means planting ficus in the Tenderloin. We need to be MUCH more progressive about global warming and traffic congestion by implementing congestion tolls, raising parking fares, making MUNI actually viable, and forget about requiring MUNI to "fund itself." The subway needs to go way past Chinatown into North Beach, a neighborhood that crawls with drunk drivers every night.
And how about making Alioto-Pier's token gesture of making it illegal
