Dear Mayor, our parks in the South East section of San Francisco have few if any working bathrooms. We have had to resort to porta potties in some picnic areas. The ones that do have bathrooms are usually locked up on the weekends and holidays--the biggest attendance days! McLaren Park is often gated on holidays too, discouraging park use. Trash also piles up in large quantities on the weekends and the park workers do not haul any of it away until the following week. Our citizens in the southern part of the city need to have their parks fully staffed

They've moved from around Haight Street to the area right at the end of Hayes. I had been looking forward to walking there after work, with Daylight Savings Time, but there are too many of them and they are very, very aggressive.

The continuing problem with the "hard core" homeless in our neighborhoods and parks needs to be addressed aggressively. I'm all for Care Not Cash and the Community Courts Initiative, but Mayor Newsom needs to realize that homelessness is still plaguing lots of SF neighborhoods and causing a serious decline in our quality of life. I've lived in the Haight Ashbury for 17 years, and I have so many horror stories about encounters with homeless people in my neighborhood that I could fill hundreds of web pages! My personal favorite is the time that my 11-year old nephew was visiting from

Haight Street and the entrance to Golden Gate Park are just downright dangerous. The Haight has been described as "eclectic" but it is just plain confrontational. There have been violent confrontations on shoppers and residents for not giving money to panhandlers, or simply for no reason at all. Unlike other areas of the city, where there are truly needy people that need help, this area is filled with young, aggressive people that are more interested in taking drugs and causing problems than in improving their situation. Because of this violence, many vendors have moved from the neighborhood, and many tourists

Because of prior bad experiences at dog parks (I have had two dogs mauled and have been bitten twice), I choose to keep my two dogs leashed and avoid designated off-leash parks. I often walk my dogs through the panhandle, Golden Gate park and Ocean Beach. On numerous occasions I have had to fend-off aggressive off-leash dogs. There should be a place I can safely walk my dogs without fear of being injured or needing to break-up a fight. It is ridiculous for the City to consider breed-restriction laws when they are not enforcing the laws already in place. The

Dear Pet Peeves,
I've just read the whole list of pet peeves and I agree with many of them. I am currently living in Tokyo, on a student exchange program, but I am a registered voter in the city of San Francisco.
The Greater Tokyo Metropolitan area has over 35 million people. While there is a homeless population, it is nearly invisible because they are so few. They are most visible in one major city park, because the city has provided basic blue plastic tarps and public space for them to establish shelters. Some have clearly been in place for years. But

There are not enough N-Judah trains in the morning rush hour. There are only 3 between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, when a lot of people go to work. I will pay the Mayor $20 if he packs in the N in the AM at 7:30 with the rest of us. We need more Ns in the morning. Related to this, there should be a system where if you can’t squeeze onto a train due to overcrowding, you should get part of your fast pass fee refunded. We are paying for something we are not receiving.
The way the MUNI workers chat
