Last Friday, in the Dolores Park area (one of the most gentrified in the city), I saw one police car per block - that is, police cars everywhere. I wish I'd see a similar deployment in the Bayview. There was a shooting right in front of my house a couple of weeks ago, and I don't see more police cars after that.

WHY has this city apparently become the west coast crack capital? Crack dealers and users alike flock to this city in droves...because it is seemingly Disneyland for them. Cops could care less, and politicians could care even less than cops. Does our DA even bother to prosecute these crimes anymore? Or am I living in a "twilight zone", waiting to pinch myself and wake up already? When did selling and dealing drugs out in the open become as distinctively San Francisco as the cable cars? I see DOZENS of postings on the exact same issue, but seriously wonder if anyone

The evidence is new gang name spray painting everywhere and gunfire during late night and early morning hours - occasionally fully automatic.

1. The homeless and the effect they have on the appearance of our city.
2. The lack of a structured program to integrate, educate and prepare returning ex-cons to be useful members of the society.
3. The need to get nonviolent people out of our jails so there is space available for the violent.
4. Get guns out of our city and join other cities working on this problem. Guns have no place in a civilized society and are a major factor in the unending stream of deaths so often occurring here. National politicians will not take on the NRA so local cities

I hear gun shots in my neighborhood at Grove and Laguna fairly regularly these days and I don't understand why there isn't anything being done about gun and drug control. I had just walked my dog past the corner where a young girl was shot at 1pm in the afternoon some weeks back. Something has to be done about finding the people who are doing this and putting a stop to it. Its not just about beefing up police patrol in the area, its about some real social services to make the lives of these people better such that they

My pet peeve is crime. I live in Potrero and sometimes things get ugly. Transients think it's okay to live in their cars and use the sidewalks as their toilets. People are constantly dumping their trash in my neighborhood. Cars being broken into is routine. I once saw a guy pull an AK-47 out of the trunk of a Mercedes by the projects. And every once in a while, someone gets shot.
I'd very much like this to stop. I'd like a zero tolerance approach toward violence be taken. Bulldoze the projects at the top of the hill. I don't

My pet peeve is the gun club at Lake Merced. I know it's protected from law suits. I don't care about suing, I don't care if gun enthusiasts practice their sport ... I care about not having to feel like I am living in the middle of a war zone every single weekend plus one weekday, 52 weeks a year for six hours a day of non-stop gunfire noise.
I've heard the nostalgia about the club having been around sooo long ... well, so has cancer and crime ... neither of which is cherished because of its longevity.
