Handicap/Ramp Curb Cuts
October 26th, 2007 8:24 am

Oftentimes at our corners there is only one, and it is in the center of the curb. This forces the user to walk out into traffic. L-M Millrod Read This Posty »

Art Academy Buses Stopping in Loading Zones
October 17th, 2007 7:37 am

For sometime now since the Art Academy (Pres. Elisa Stephens) took over the YWCA Bldg. off Sutter and Mason Sts, their shuttle buses continually stop/park on the zone reserved for loading bus passengers.  As the Muni driver(s) cannot pull over to the curb, because  the Academy's buses are in the bus zone, the disabled passengers  have a very difficult time getting on the bus.  I called the Dept. of  Parking and nothing has been done.  Please follow-up on this issue.  Thank You!  Lily Subias Read This Posty »

How about getting the cracks in city streets fixed
October 12th, 2007 9:05 am

A crack, hole, or rise in the surface of our streets of less than an inch or greater may sound like small potatoes to you, but try traveling between California and Market streets (including the sidewalks) in a standard or power wheelchair. It can be a jarring experience, not to mention the wear and tear on the chair. If you think I'm kidding, you are welcome to try the trip yourself. Just borrow a chair and do it. As a matter of fact, I am more than willing to let you borrow my powerchair.   Also, what Read This Posty »

Transportation for Disabled
June 29th, 2007 7:30 am

Before i share my issue, I want to say unequivocally, I am more than happy with our esteemed Mayor and the wonderful job he continues to offer citizens of San Francisco. Please allow him know, he IS the man for our city! This being said, I however am not at all happy with what has transpired for us as a family this past two months or so. I hope the Mayor will read this as well. I will also tell him personally as I think these are two very major important issues. I asked Aaron Goldsmith and his team to Read This Posty »

New Yellow Handicapped Sidewalk Ramps
May 15th, 2007 2:03 pm

I really hate those new yellow plastic handicapped sidewalk ramps on every corner. They get way too slippery in the fog + rain and I've seen more than a few with chipped and or broken out pieces (the remaining edges are sharp + jagged like glass)...something that would never happen to concrete -- especially in under a year of use. Not to mention the bumps are just big enough to stop a skateboard wheel dead in it's tracks...I know because I was thrown off my board the first time I tried to roll up and over some. Stop installing those Read This Posty »

Indeed, Don’t Let Politics Stop Free WiFi
May 11th, 2007 12:46 pm

I am one of the countless San Francisco citizens who signed the WiFi Petition. I am one of those many citizens who can't get on my own transit system, in particular for me, [it is the N Judah] just blocks from my home because it is not wheel-chair accessible. But because of the internet it allows me to gain access, news, and connects I can't ordinarily do on a daily, yea even weekly basis. I live on a small stipend so every penny for me really counts. Just to know that WiFi may be accessible, and available would be heaven Read This Posty »

Tearing up the Streets
May 9th, 2007 10:44 am

MY PET PEEVE IS VARIOUS ENTITIES TEARING UP THE STREETS TO SUPPOSEDLY MAKE IMPROVEMENTS (IE PUTTING IN WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE RAMPS ON STREET CORNERS) AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER DOING THE SO CALLED IMPROVEMENT, COMING BACK TEARING THEM UP AND DOING IT ALL OVER AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS ALONG LINCOLN WAY IN THE SUNSET.   JOHN Read This Posty »

Why aren’t bicycle racks available on T-Third St. light rail cars available?
April 30th, 2007 6:47 am

When my son Came to SF on Cal-Train he was told that no bicycles were allowed on the light rail and he is disabled and uses his bike to transport him when he is in the city. At his home in San Jose bike holders are available on all forms of transportation. I consider this a form of discrimination to the handicapped. Miriam Pavis Read This Posty »
