Mr. Mayor,   I hope that you or one of your trusted staff can spare a little time to address an issue that affects most residents in the city.  A growing percentage of motorcycle riders that live in or frequent our beautiful city have, with malicious intent, installed straight pipes or non-baffled exhaust systems.  Loud mufflers seem to be more about boosting egos, setting off car alarms, and scarring our children as they sleep - than promoting safety with the moronic belief that “Loud pipes save lives”.  All of us I think are entitled to a reasonable level of quiet and Read This Posty »

Imagine my utter horror when I came home to my house one Saturday afternoon to find a prostitute sitting on my front steps talking on a cell phone.  I can't even go into the details of what I saw because it was too horrific a experience.  I live in the Marina too which is not a place you would expect to find a prostitute, especially one trying to solicit in front of your house.  I heard from my neighbor that there is a motel somewhere down Lombard Street that is notorious for prostitution.  Please help!  I don't know what to Read This Posty »

Dear Mayor, I have a few pet peeves lately: The intersection of Lombard and Van Ness. I walk to and from work through this intersection daily and have to carefully examine each step of the pavement so as not to break my goddamn neck each day. Can't someone hook up some concrete mix to fill in the cracks? It's looked like crap for 3 years now. On this walk I notice at least one car broken into a day. My husband's car has been broken into three times now. The cop at the police station nearly laughed once when we went to report it.
