Kids on the 38
May 15th, 2007 2:20 pm

Is there a way to require kids (especially junior high to high schoolers) to behave/act appropriately on Muni with the driver having the ability to kick them off the bus? Especially the 38. The kids scream, yell at the top of their lungs, cuss, are are incredibly raucous in such a small space.  I don't know if anything can be done about it, but hey, it can't hurt to ask, right? Muni drivers running red lights
May 8th, 2007 2:58 pm

Muni bus drivers frequently do two things that are both illegal and very dangerous.  First, I repeatedly observe them running red lights. There is nothing more selfish and unnecessary than this, and it puts passengers and other drivers in danger. Second, they clog up intersections by not waiting until they know they can make it through before the light changes. So they end up getting stuck in the middle of the intersection and stopping all the other cars from getting through. Both of these things can be easily remedied by better training and (sadly) police enforcing the traffic laws against Read This Posty »

This is not a peeve but a commendation
May 8th, 2007 1:53 pm

I know many people dislike MUNI bus drivers, but I have been riding the 31 and 38 lines for six years now, and if I were one of those drivers I would've long ago killed someone.  My hat goes off to people who can put up with the insane, the agonizingly slow, the cheaters, the astonishingly loud, the riders who *won't* move to the back of the bus to allow others to board, and all the other harassment that bus drivers receive, and STILL come back to work.  Drivers, there is at least one person who appreciates the difficulties of Read This Posty »

Muni is a Mess
April 19th, 2007 11:39 am

From waiting a hour for car (which I just did) to a driver try to pick up a passenger and leaving the car unattended in front of Stonestown for 15min., and let's not forget the early morning driver who leave the car to pick up their coffee at Starbuck's. You need to get rid of the union and fire them all and get drivers who care about serving the public!  Dan Banul Read This Posty »

Muni and Drug Addicts
April 8th, 2007 7:43 pm

Dear Mayor Newsom,   Everyday, I come across many concerns about our community.  First off, I would like to tell you about the muni.  There are way too many graffiti artists tagging up on the muni ever time i ride the muni and nobody stops them.  What's the point of installing cameras on the bus if no actions are made.  Also, some of the muni drivers skip stops when they know they are not suppose to.  This behavior angers the people who does take the muni everyday and are in a rush to get to work or school etc.  Second, there are Read This Posty »

$45 for a FastPass
April 6th, 2007 6:25 am

I pay $45.00 a month for a Fast pass. Many bus drivers will not stop when I'm standing at the but stop; especially at Clay and Leavenworth. When the #1 California bus comes from the Richmond district full of people or not full of people the bus driver will stick out his thumb to the people who are waiting patiently and not patietly to get to work only a few blocks away to the downtown area just because the bus is full of the Chinese seniors who have woken early to do their shopping in China town and then the Read This Posty »

Hateful MUNI Workers
April 5th, 2007 4:46 pm

I've been told by many people that individuals that work for the city of San Francisco get paid pretty well. Usually, they are paid above average, which makes city jobs so in demand. Why is it, that whenever I encounter a person that works for the city, I am greeted with rude attitude, unpleasant behavior, and just an overall surly demeanour? I couldn't count the number of times I've been snubbed, given dirty looks, or foul language from MUNI drivers. There's been a few times that MUNI drivers have not even stopped. Once because she ended up running a "yellow light" Read This Posty »

Must be something that BART can teach Muni
April 4th, 2007 3:13 pm

Hello Mayor Newsom, Thanks for the opportunity to speak with you! My pet peeve is Muni.  I am a native of SF and resident for 59 years.  I have never owned a car, so I depend on Muni and BART for local transportation  I remember the good old days of Muni, barely.  I live in the Mission and commute to SF State.  It shouldn't take an hour or longer - - but it often does, especially in off-peak hours.  There must be something that BART can teach Muni.  I rarely find myself frustrated with BART. I generally find myself frustrated with MUNI.  Read This Posty »

MUNI MUNI MUNI
April 3rd, 2007 2:27 pm

It is disgraceful. Change machines never work. Try getting change from Rite Aid at Van ness during rush hour because all of the change machines are broken. Double N cars back to back during rush hour and all of them near empty while K, L, M run in single file packed to the rafters every 10 minutes. Belligerent drivers, unhelpful, rude. Every day it gets worse. MUNI is right back where it was when Willie Brown was trying to figure out how to fix it. Karekin Read This Posty »

Not Feeling Safe
April 3rd, 2007 1:32 pm

Hello there:   I have several concerns but at this time I can not offer any solutions, can anybody address these issues?   1.  BREAKING LAWS; SAFETY ISSUE: There is a serious breakdown of rude, disrespectful, non-courteous drivers in cars, not obeying the pedestrian cross walk rules or the laws.  This problem occurs every single day in any given part of the city.  Pedestrians crossing at the cross walk and the driver of the car does not yield at all when the ped is in the middle of the crosswalk.  They drive right next to you in the cross walk and many times they Read This Posty »

Muni Complaint
April 3rd, 2007 1:29 pm

I am sure you get these all the time. However, I am totally fed up with Muni. I ride the 23 almost everyday from my house to the Glen Park Bart station and back home again. I am sure you have a list of complaints already but here are mine. 1. Rarely on-time. Lat night I waited from 8:55 to 9:30 for the bus.  There was no bus at 9 and this happens all the time. 2. I have a Muni pass and always show it. Drivers ask some patrons to show them and others they ignore or even let ride the Read This Posty »

MUNI BUSES RUNNING LIGHTS AND CROSSWALKS
April 3rd, 2007 12:49 pm

I have noticed a significant number of both Muni and Samtrans buses running red lights and driving through crosswalks full of people.  The drivers know they will never be fired short of running over someone and will be ignored by our non-existent traffic police.  Why not mount some of the same cameras on our city streets downtown that are enjoyed by SF residents in the higher crime neighborhoods.  Random viewing by Muni supervisors should provide enough documentation to get rid of the bad drivers, or at least let them know someone is actually watching. I would start with cameras on Read This Posty »

An EASY, FREE way to Help Traffic Congestion!
April 3rd, 2007 12:46 pm

Make it a rule that Muni drivers MUST pull into their allocated bus stops when picking people up or dropping them off.  More often then not they DO NOT use the bus stop to get out of the way.  Even if only the back of the bus is hanging out into the lane, it still makes the lane unusable.  Check out the problem yourself, you'll find a real close of view of it when on one lane streets like Fillmore.  We might as well not have any bus stops, it will free up a lot more parking spaces, since the buses Read This Posty »

Traffic Enforcement and Crime
March 21st, 2007 12:58 pm

Dear Mayor Newsom, Crime is the number one problem in San Francisco and I see no effort to solve it.  I see pedestrians ignore crossing signals preventing cars from making their turns.  I see bicyclists racing down the sidewalk, knocking down anybody too old to get out of their way fast enough.  I see cars run redlights, turn when pedestrians have the right of way and park on our sidewalks.  I see MUNI weaving around double parked cars in the bus lanes.  I see selfish, greedy behaviours that endanger the lives of others. I have never seen anyone get a ticket for Read This Posty »
