T Line Commute
August 29th, 2007 8:19 am

Today I took the T line from 20th and 3rd to the Embarcadero BART station.  I caught a 6:38 train.  There was a 30 minute gap in between the train I caught and the next train.  It makes it really difficult to transition to commuting on the T Line when the train runs so infrequently during commute hours. Fix the N Line frequency and unreliability problems
August 27th, 2007 1:13 pm

Mayor Newsom, Your townhall meetings (and this section of your campaign website) are full of MUNI horror stories and pleas to fix the system.  No doubt, you are aware of the problem.  As someone who wants to leave my car at home and commute to work via MUNI and arrive on-time, I'm interested in solutions--specifically your ideas about how to fix this system. I moved to Cole Valley less than a year ago and try to ride the N Line downtown and back everyday. As one of the busiest stops (and growing) on the N Line, the service levels are unacceptable and make Read This Posty »

Graffiti is Everywhere
August 20th, 2007 9:42 am

It seems that everywhere - and I mean everywhere - is defaced by graffiti.  It's absolutely terrible and it also seems as if nothing is being done about it.  I live in the Sunset, and everywhere you look, you see defacement and vandalism by these people who think any surface is their tablet!  I ride MUNI every day, and very rarely am I on a bus or street car that doesn't have some kind of graffiti vandalism. MUNI Change
August 20th, 2007 9:37 am

I know it's dreaming too big to ask for a true MUNI/BART merge, but there is a really frustrating difficulty in the system that could be quickly rectified (i think).  I was introducing a friend as a new MUNI rider at Montgomery station underground.  She was open to using it but we both only had $20s in our wallets.  So I said "no problem, there's a change machine, see how handy!"  The change machine only produces $5 bills.  "no problem, there's a bill to coin changer, see how handy!"  The bill to coin changer only accepts $1 bills.  "no problem, Read This Posty »

We need someone at the head of Muni who has held a REAL job
August 20th, 2007 9:25 am

Muni drivers getting paid DOUBLE TIME to pass out leaflets on the new T line.  This is what happened on one of the Saturday's before the line launched.  There were LOTS of these employees handing out the leaflets...they swarmed the train at West Portal.  We asked what are they doing?  And one of them (a woman) said = with a HUGE grin on her face = Getting Paid Double Time!  Enough said.  We need someone at the head of Muni who has held a REAL job, not a government job.  Please!  Where is Willie Brown when you need him?  THAT's Read This Posty »

MUNI
August 9th, 2007 2:56 pm

MUNI is a real liability. The city skyline is growing, more people and workers pouring into downtown, but MUNI is simply not keeping up. Buses don't run frequently enough, the trains are too crowded at all hours - have too few cars at at a time and the system closes too early. It's a real mess - not nearly good enough for a city of this size and stature. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

MUNI Turnstiles
August 9th, 2007 2:26 pm

Why is it important that Muni has to have \"turnstiles\", for every entrance? Why can't there be at least one Bart-type turnstile, so that people like me can access easily with my work equipment, rather than having to lift it 3 feet of 100lbs over it. If you look closely, you will see the majority of the people downtown, business and tourists alike struggling to get through the turnstiles to catch Muni. This is just one more inconvenience that was not addressed during the planning phase connection the train to SFO. Who,s in charge here, Read This Posty »

Wet Bus Seats
August 1st, 2007 1:42 am

Wet seats on buses. When it rains the seats have water standing in them. Can't these overpaid Muni drivers check the bus before they head out to insure the seats are not full of water? Name Withheld Read This Posty »

City drivers using their cell phones
July 27th, 2007 7:52 am

More and more you can see city employees -- MUNI drivers, meter maids, and even police -- on their cell phones while on duty. MUNI has enough problems without having distracted drivers or drivers who seem to be more interested in their private conversations than in customer service or even, God forbid, driving safety. MUNI and the police should be setting examples of responsible, aware driving behavior. Undoubtedly some of their conversations probably are work related. But telling by the expressions on their faces while driving and cell phoning as well as the general enthusiasm they are showing on those Read This Posty »

Mayor Should Ride MUNI for a Month
July 25th, 2007 8:10 am

My "pet peeve" is having an ineffectual mayor who does nothing but hold press conferences when the murder rate is sky high, and allows MUNI to deteriorate while studying the effectiveness of a bus line that is already one of the best-performing in the city. God forbid the precious mayor ever give up his chauffeured luxury car, but maybe if he rode MUNI exclusively for a month he'd be a little more understanding of what those of us who can't afford a car go through. The only people really welcome here are drunks and junkies
July 25th, 2007 8:06 am

I guess it was inevitable despite our efforts to keep the bums out of our neighborhood, there is one now regularly sleeping in front of our building. I called the Police General Dispatch and got a self-righteous little jerk (Dispatcher 80, I believe) who began to lecture me that homelessness is not a crime. Yeah, like I was calling because the person is homeless. No, I was calling because the person trashes the front of our building and uses the back for a toilet. But that didn't matter to this dispatcher as he was well versed in the lies-designed-to-shame-critics crafted Read This Posty »

MUNI Police Not Riding Buses
July 24th, 2007 7:13 am

I am sooooooooooo tired of "Ghetto Brats" getting on MUNI Bus threw the back door and no one is making them pay for anything.   Also that the MUNI police are always on MUNI Metro train and NEVER on buses above ground. They would get a lot more people if they would go on above ground bus. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Can MUNI police actually get real work to do like watching for our safety?
July 24th, 2007 7:12 am

In my continuing frustration walking to and from the Powell Street MUNI/Bart Station to my place of work near Union Square, a friend let me know about this website.  Frankly, I am doubtful this will help, but will give it a try.  For me, and thousands of others who have to use this station to get to work, this becomes representative of what San Francisco is like to LIVE in.  Unfortunately, I do not have the good fortune of working around the Montgomery Station or Embarcadero.  Every day without fail, I am treated to what is like a human toilet Read This Posty »

Please restore the Outbound 48 Quintara
July 23rd, 2007 8:03 am

I take the 48 Quintara bus from Noe Valley down to the Mission everyday. No matter what time of day (except weekends, of course, you can never depend on the 48 on a weekend), I have no problem catching a nice, clear air 48 from my Noe Valley neighborhood. But on any given day, at 24th street and Mission, I have to wait up to one full hour to get a returning 48Quintara to take me back up the hill. More often than not, I just end up walking from Mission to the top of Noe Valley. This sucks when Read This Posty »

The whole atmosphere here is do whatever you please
July 11th, 2007 7:50 pm

I got a letter yesterday from a friend I had written to about the ruination of SF by drunks and those who advocate public drunkenness and its attendant filth (aka "Homeless Advocates"). His response contained a sentence that I think sums it all up: "Living up here in Seattle, I see some of the same creeping consensus to do nothing so as to offend no one but irritate nearly all." Perfect. This is for Jessica below who has the van in front of her house. You ask what rights you have? In the eyes of the people who run this city: Read This Posty »

MUNI #10
July 11th, 2007 4:10 pm

Dear Mayor Newsom, Please see my post below, a copy of which I sent to Muni today and If there is ANYTHING you can do to improve this service please do so. This is to inform you about the lack of an efficient, competent, organized, well-thought-out, structured, prepared, skilled etc….. Muni bus service from the Financial District in San Francisco to the Cal Train Station at 4th and King St. At present we are now down to one bus (due to the number 15 bus being recently “retired” ) for the Cal Train service within the Financial District area Read This Posty »
