We moved out of San Francisco last month because we could not get to/from our daily activities without stepping over the homeless, stepping in dog feces, stepping around garbage, or being stuck on the N-Judah. It's a shame that San Francisco has deteriorated to the point that we felt we had no choice but to move to a city that respects it's citizen's efforts to make the simplest of activities be just that.

Mayor Newsom,
Your townhall meetings (and this section of your campaign website) are full of MUNI horror stories and pleas to fix the system. No doubt, you are aware of the problem. As someone who wants to leave my car at home and commute to work via MUNI and arrive on-time, I'm interested in solutions--specifically your ideas about
how to fix this system.
I moved to Cole Valley less than a year ago and try to ride the N Line downtown and back everyday.
As one of the busiest stops (and growing) on the N Line, the service levels are unacceptable and make Read This Posty »

Before i share my issue, I want to say unequivocally, I am more than happy with our esteemed Mayor and the wonderful job he continues to offer citizens of San Francisco. Please allow him know, he IS the man for our city! This being said, I however am not at all happy with what has transpired for us as a family this past two months or so. I hope the Mayor will read this as well. I will also tell him personally as I think these are two very major important issues. I asked Aaron Goldsmith and his team to Read This Posty »

Dear Gavin,
My pet peeve concerns Muni LRVs and their drivers, especially those on the N-Judah line, which is where I live. The problem is twofold. (1) The horns with which these cars are equipped are way too loud (and thus illegal), and (2) A number of Muni operators routinely use their horns inappropriately.
First, the Muni cars appear to be equipped with air horns. Air horns are illegal in California, as they should be, along with any horn that emits an "unreasonably loud or harsh sound." (See California Vehicle Code Section 27000: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc27000.htm) The Muni LRV horns must be disabled Read This Posty »

There is very little way to predict when the train will come, and the 71 frequently leaves me waiting for 20 minutes during hours when it is supposed to run every 10 minutes.

Again, I'm writing in hopes that the city will take seriously the horrid graffiti that is covering our great city & do more about it then just the volunteer anti-graffiti program. It just is not enough to have volunteers removing the graffiti. It in my opinion has been on the rise in the last 3 years since I have lived here. We do not hold private owners or the city to cleaning up their homes or buildings. If the mayor is not going to make this important then who is & the city will only continue on a down hill Read This Posty »

What should be a 12-15 minute ride for me often takes over an hour. At least 1-2 days per week the train gets stuck in the tunnel indefinitely and I have to abandon the train and take a bus downtown from whatever point the train happened to get stuck. This means I take a different route to work several days per month, which is very stressful and frustrating. It is impossible to establish a regular routine on the N Judah line because service is wildly erratic. Several days per week a number of trains will pass by all passengers waiting Read This Posty »

I can handle waiting half an hour for an N to show up at Carl and Cole during morning rush hour to take me down town. It sucks but it happens so frequently Iím used to it. I can deal with the cattle-car conditions on the N itself hundreds people packed in like doomed galley slaves. I can withstand the constant barrage of delays in the tunnel. I've even grown accustomed to the terrible customer service: the surly, mean, dismissive attitude shared by most Muni drivers. These drivers routinely display the stereotypical worst behavior of the protected civil servant whom Read This Posty »

This morning I tried the "Tried and True" -- 673-muni -- it sent me over to 311. It took more than ten minutes to get the information I needed. Really disgusting. On "673" the response to my simple question would have been instant. "If I get on the N-Judah at the end of the line, will it take me to AT&T Park directly without any changes?" Another example of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I understand that the new T line required that the N train terminate at the Embarcadero - what I don't get is why there are not N trains waiting for Giants fan when the the shuttle gets to the Embarcadero station - my old 25 minute ride is now taking over an hour due to poor scheduling and planning of the Muni line - I want to stay out of my car but Muni is making it tough !

I am one of the countless San Francisco citizens who signed the WiFi Petition. I am one of those many citizens who can't get on my own transit system, in particular for me, [it is the N Judah] just blocks from my home because it is not wheel-chair accessible. But because of the internet it allows me to gain access, news, and connects I can't ordinarily do on a daily, yea even weekly basis. I live on a small stipend so every penny for me really counts. Just to know that WiFi may be accessible, and available would be heaven Read This Posty »

I was very much a supporter to your initial race for office and appreciate much that has been done. I am, however, wholly unsatisfied by MUNI which seems to have taken several steps backwards over the last several years. Public transportation is not a sexy issue but it is one of the nuts and bolts issues that distinguish cities that work from cities that don't. I commute (or try to) on the N Judah. It is almost never on a regular schedule. The verbal incoming train announcements are almost always wrong. The posted incoming announcements are almost always wrong, and Read This Posty »

I live next to the N-Judah line on 38th and Judah. I have decided after years of trying to get to work on time with the N, I now drive to work. I pay $400 for parking downtown and I feel that this city has a serious problem with public transportation. I haven't tried the T-Line yet, but from what I heard it has only made the N-Judah line worse. Why can't the city provide an express N-car? It takes me over an hour to get 7 miles across the city.

Please shut down the T until you can run it without destroying service to the rest of the city.

Please either fix the N-Judah so we can actually rely on it, or shut the thing down and stop mocking us with it.

1.) Potholes & bumpy streets (bad for bike-riding).
2.) There should be more N-Judah trains, and Muni in general should be more on time, especially the 33!

The inner & outer Sunset access to Caltrain is now severely limited. The T line runs too infrequently, J runs to Caltrain only in the early morning. Did MUNI actually discuss these route changes with the core riders? The T line will be convenient for Bayview residents, but this new line has definitely decreased the attractiveness of public transportation for me, an N commuter.

When the N-Judah train gets backed up in front of our house on Duboce just before it goes underground. Sometimes 3 trains will be sitting waiting to go. There has to be a more efficient way to run the trains.
