PARKING! I live in the Excelsior (16yrs) and it's difficult to find parking on the street, especially after 5pm. I've counted a few addresses that have 3 or 4 vehicles and also, they can't park in their garage because: (a) all or part of garage converted to apt; and/or (b) can't accommodate a large truck. Some folks take up two parking spaces because they are reserving space for their other vehicles. For safety if I come home late I have to park in my driveway (my garage is used for storage) and big chance I'll get a $100 ticket. Sometimes Read This Posty »

Living on a block where parking is not enforced even though the only reason it isn't is because I live on a steep hill. Having to call the 311 at least once a week to report cars that haven't moved in two weeks to one month. Questioning whether or not it's worth paying for my annual "A" permit since the parking isn't enforced where I often park anyway. Thanks for listening...

I just don't understand why, when I park in my own driveway to unload groceries to feed my family, the DPT gives me a $100 ticket. these tickets for parking in our driveways are a huge burden for hard working San Franciscans who are just trying to live our lives. Can't mayor newsome help us by stopping this practice of the DPT? Nobody seriously thinks parking in your own driveway is a crime, this is just a way to get money from people who don't have enough money to start with.

The only ones benefiting are the towing companies. Fine folks who park there...that should be deterrent enough and the city would get the funds. Towing actually makes matters worse, as the tow trucks block an ADDITIONAL lane causing massive backups as traffic merges.

Or create an account for folks that they can be credited. I missed a refund on a recent item and DPT had 'gobbled' it up! It is ILLEGAL!

DPT are frequently inappropriate in remarks and attitudes. Also, some ticketing appears to be intended to fill a quota. I have noted that many un-metered parking areas are ticketed without first assuring that the actual time is over the limit. Complaining to DPT does nothing.

Opinion on Gavin Newsom's cameras on buses.
September 12, 2007
We should be the first city to have a camera on our Mayor. This way we will have proof every time they fail to approve new parking structures, additional garage spaces and retail zones without adequate parking. The problem is not the citizens and visiting patrons that leave millions of dollars of sales tax revenue to the chauffeured staff of the City of San Francisco. The double-parking problem is also not the families who try to live in a city that gouges every penny from if you need to have a car Read This Posty »

Traffic moves when everyone follows the rules. Traffic backs up when people double park. An easy solution is to have parking officers circle main Downtown and neighborhood commercial streets constantly to ticket, tow and move double parkers.

I have received a couple where I was too close to a driveway (maybe an inch over red and in no way blocking access) and for parking in an unmarked area of the lot in Balboa Park. In both cases after getting the ticket I was not sure what I had done and the interpretation of the ticket giver was very harsh. No forgiveness when I protested in writing. It seems like the city is just trying to get extra revenue and does not care about justice or the intent of the law.

Gavin, you were behind me in line at Walgreen's on Chestnut last year when I told you about my car being stolen out of my driveway. The rest of the story is, I got a delinquent parking ticket, and drove to Sea Cliff where the ticket was issued 6 weeks before. It was parked on the street near the ticket location. I called the police and had it impounded. They obviously did not open the car, because at the tow company the next day, I found in the car: 2 file boxes full of car registrations-at least 200 separate cars Read This Posty »

It is such a drag to have to take your child or yourself to peep or poop in the bushes when you are at the park on the weekends. I went to a great party in a public park in West Hollywood. They get a lot of money from parking tickets I guess, but really it's embarrassing that our beautiful parks have no restroom facilities. WALTER HAAS PLAYGROUND DOES NOT EVEN HAVE A BATHROOM< MAJOR PEEVE!!!!

My husband is the chef at Globe. The restaurant does a service to the city by serving good food until 1 AM.
Since BART doesn't run much past midnight, he has to drive. The meters/tickets are outrageous and to park in a lot monthly is also outrageous. What's the solution?

There's NO space to park in my part of town after 6pm, there's no choice but to pull into your driveway, if you have one, and sure enough, I got a ticket for parking in my own driveway, and I wasn't blocking anyone. There was enough room to drive a car between my house and car and I did not hang into the bike path, but I get this "you are being rude" message which is pure Bullshit. Now I have to pay the City $100 because I was not harming anyone or causing any problem. I think a jealous Read This Posty »

If you have a project that has merit raise the taxes for it or reallocate taxes. Gouging residents with tickets and then putting two incompetent workers at the ticket office to deal with complaints is embarrassing. I thought the Mayor believed in modern management techniques.
I will still vote for him but god he's a long way from the promise of election night. Do something for the people who elected you.

Why not encourage people to take up less space on the street by allowing them to park between cars? If they are willing to risk their bike being knocked over, what's the harm?

I went in person to pay for a parking ticket. I had a check ready filled out. They would not accept it - told me I had to mail it in...??? Also, some of the street cleaning signs have disappeared - people should NOT get tickets when there are no signs within viewing distance from parking spot

People who double park all along Mission street, like it is nothing more than a side street! It is a MAJOR thoroughfare that I would not dare to double park in. Tag 'em, tag 'em tag 'em.

I love this city! It's been wonderful to me and i want to see it improve. It hurts to see such a beautiful city (1) plagued with graffiti, I don't know what the intrigue is, but it's everywhere. Maybe I'd understand if I could actually read what it is, but for the most part, it's some jerk's street name or the posse he runs with or whatever and it's less than artistic to say the least. (2) My car was been broken into twice within a month in the Lower Haight district. I didn't even bother reporting the second incident Read This Posty »
