Sidewalk parking enforcement
July 17th, 2007 10:08 am

Please give some attention to the issue of the rising number of cars parked on the sidewalk and the unwillingness of DPT to enforce the existing law prohibiting it.  In my 13 years in San Francisco it has become increasingly harder every year to be a pedestrian. Recently, I have been often forced to venture out into the street with my three year old to avoid a car "parked in their driveway". When I contacted the DPT about scofflaws parking on the sidewalk to avoid street cleaning tickets the officer in charge told me that it was allowed and that I Read This Posty »

Where are the parking passes going?
July 11th, 2007 3:51 pm

I ordered a $50 Parking Meter card a month ago and it has not arrived. I called 311 (Thanks Gavin) and got through to Didi at 11 S Van Ness. I explained that I had ordered a card, and before I finished my sentence she said “And it hasn’t arrived has it?” She continued “I’m not the first, and won’t be the last” I now have to go to her office and sign an affidavit to get a replacement. So, where are all of these cards going? And how many are getting Lost, Misplaced or Stolen? Ian Read This Posty »

North Beach Parking Meters
July 2nd, 2007 8:11 am

The experimental parking meters in North Beach do not give credit full credit of payments in the following situation; a person buys part of allowable time (maybe with all the coins she has) and then returns with change after a purchase but the meter starts at 0 regardless of whether or not all the originally purchased time had elapsed.  San Francisco drivers are getting feed up. Hostile Parking Enforcer
June 28th, 2007 8:31 am

I just received a ticket for an expired meter. I plan on paying the violation. My concern is the woman who gave me the ticket. As I approached the car, the woman was talking and looked at me. Not hearing her clearly, I said "excuse me?". What I did not notice was that she had a bluetooth, and was carrying on a personal conversation with someone on the phone. She turned to me and said "I'm not talking to you, mind your own business." I said that I was sorry, I thought she was talking to me. She then put Read This Posty »

Hypocrisy re separation of “church and state”
June 28th, 2007 8:29 am

Um, how is it that the city dpt permits double parking for "church" events. Just look at Dolores and Guerrero any given Sunday... Name Withheld Read This Posty »

“Gatherings” at Dolores Park
June 28th, 2007 8:27 am

Inadequate restroom facilities, garbage collection, illegal parking. Apparently it is acceptable to expect the city's taxpayers (home owners) to "underwrite" these events- events I am more than happy to embrace, if it were not for the trampling of MY neighborhood every single time. What's up with that? Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Please don’t give up on us as other mayors have done in the past
June 25th, 2007 7:56 am

My pet peeve is the drug dealing in the Bayview community, the drug addicts and their stealing and robbing people and the T train.  We are coming to realize the T train is not the benefit we were told it was going to be. Parking is terrible, the traffic lights don't hold long enough on the cross streets (there is not enough time to walk across or drive across 3rd before the light turns red on you) and the distances between left turns off of 3rd street are few and far between. I would like to see more police cars Read This Posty »

Double Parking on Mission St.
June 20th, 2007 7:17 am

Please enforce double-parking regs along main traffic corridors like Mission Street during rush hour! It creates a dangerous situation, since other drivers have to change lanes rapidly, congests traffic by cutting four lanes down to two, and worsens traffic flow by preventing right-on-red. It is dangerous to bikers & pedestrians to have that right-on-red turn unexpectedly made from the *left* lane because the right lane was blocked by a double-parked vehicle. With consistent ticketing in key areas, not only will the word get around not to double-park at rush hour; but city revenue will increase. Sue Weaver Read This Posty »

Double parked cars and no one to enforce traffic flow
June 18th, 2007 8:04 am

Traffic moves when everyone follows the rules. Traffic backs up when people double park.  An easy solution is to have parking officers circle main Downtown and neighborhood commercial streets constantly to ticket, tow and move double parkers. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Unjust Parking Tickets
June 15th, 2007 7:32 am

I have received a couple where I was too close to a driveway (maybe an inch over red and in no way blocking access) and for parking in an unmarked area of the lot in Balboa Park.  In both cases after getting the ticket I was not sure what I had done and the interpretation of the ticket giver was very harsh.  No forgiveness when I protested in writing.  It seems like the city is just trying to get extra revenue and does not care about justice or the intent of the law. It is NOT SAFE to randomly change the rules
June 12th, 2007 7:34 am

I have been in SF for two years.......When I want to park by a meter I never know if it is for one hour or two.........a simple solution.........mark the meters....one hour or two.  I find it VERY frustrating.  Another peeve....probably not your problem.....but is is a REAL problem........the cabs should have lights that indicate it has a passenger or it is free........there must be a way to take care of this without having to buy new cars.......they could have a magnetic sign for the top of the car.........maybe they don't care......I have no idea what a bus only lane is......cars Read This Posty »

Purchasing Parking Meter Payment Cards
June 11th, 2007 9:15 am

Hi, my pet peeve is the difficulty of purchasing parking meter payment cards.  Can you please sell them in more locations, perhaps supermarkets or corner stores?  The pre-paid card is such a convenient, consumer-friendly idea, but so hard to find -- standing in line for 20 at the office on Howard Street to buy a card is a deterrent.  Thank you! -B Read This Posty »

PARKING!
June 7th, 2007 1:57 pm

Please do something about the parking problem -- especially for long-term residents -- you could gain huge support for addressing this. Seems like it's something that could actually show results immediately and throngs of hard-working city dwellers will chant "I love Gavin." Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Afraid to Park on Streets
June 7th, 2007 8:22 am

I am afraid to park my car on city streets for fear that my windows will be shattered and my car broken into. I live near 7th & Townsend. There are mounds of broken car glass everywhere, evidence of cars that were vandalized. There are also many other neighborhoods I walk thru and see the same broken glass. Is the Police Department doing anything about these vandals/theifs? I don't want my insurance rates to go even higher plus out-of-pocket expenses due to deductibles. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Please enforce some rules and perhaps people would get the idea
June 6th, 2007 8:26 am

Pet peeves: double parking on Irving, Noriega, and Taraval to get food at restaurant. Not stopping fully at STOP signs Sunset Scavengers ZIPPING  through intersections Parking in the FIRE zone at Safeway and no one enforces the law I would rather go on the roof or go around the block than break the law. And if ever an emergency did appear, there could be a law suit because emergency vehicle could not gain access. Please enforce some rules and perhaps people would get the idea   ....DA Read This Posty »
