My biggest pet peeve is that when my friend and I visited SF from SJ she got mugged in front of 6 police officers, and they refused to help. They were too busy standing in front of their police cars directing traffic down the only open street, or talking to each other with their backs to the people exiting the bar. I haven't been to SF since.

My pet peeve is the drug dealing in the Bayview community, the drug addicts and their stealing and robbing people and the T train. We are coming to realize the T train is not the benefit we were told it was going to be. Parking is terrible, the traffic lights don't hold long enough on the cross streets (there is not enough time to walk across or drive across 3rd before the light turns red on you) and the distances between left turns off of 3rd street are few and far between. I would like to see more police cars Read This Posty »

I live near the intersection of 19th on Dolores street and my peeve is the people who think it is a freeway from the light at 20th to the light at 18th. We NEED a stop sign on the corner of 19th. People speed down this street everyday. This is the center entrance to the park on the east side and tons of pedestrians with dogs and many with children cross here every day and night. I have lived in this building for over seven years and am surprised how few citations I have seen given. Every once in a Read This Posty »

When is someone going to do something about the human vermin that infests this city? It would appear in the downtown area that one cannot walk a block, without three or four homeless people sticking a cup in your face expecting you to throw cash at them. It is a disgrace that this situation is not being addressed. It would not be tolerated in any other city in the world.
If you make a perfectly safe, but illegal left turn onto Geary from Powell, you will find a motorcycle cop ready to pounce on you. Not a chance in hell Read This Posty »

Make flyers that appear on cars in SOMA ILLEGAL. They just become litter as if the city needs more of that! MORE Police presence South Beach. I had 2 13 yr olds threaten me with what appeared to be a gun for watching them as they cased cars on Hawthorn Ln. that they wanted to break windows of. VERY SCARY!

The evidence is new gang name spray painting everywhere and gunfire during late night and early morning hours - occasionally fully automatic.

The 500 block in particular. What has HAPPENED to this street lately? I've lived here for only a year but I've only seen it get progressively worse. Heavy drug use and sales, trash, graffiti, homeless setting up camp on the street, etc. I've recently called the police on 3 separate occasions while witnessing illegal activity, and each time, after waiting for more than 45 minutes for them to arrive, I just gave up, thinking that somehow these problems aren't a priority for the SFPD any longer. I guess that's what happens if no one cares enough to prosecute them either. Read This Posty »

People are dying out there, man! HOMICIDES!
Yeah making SF a green city, great, but is that really that important when people are being KILLED? There are SERIOUS DRUG and GANG problems.
Hopefully you are aware of this? I know there are police shortages but you have REALLY GOT TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS

It has been well known for years to the DA's office, the police department and others that 106 Albion Street is a crack house/whorehouse, and yet the city had no success in dealing with the problem.

Walking back from the dentist today (no cavities, thank you very much) I saw something that really made me wince. Right there on a crowded downtown union square street corner (Geary and Stockton) at 3pm, some short punky guy is personalizing the public bus with a purple etch-a-sketch marker. I can't figure out what it says of course, but that's the point of graffiti isn't it? The most remarkable fact was that about 10 onlookers were just STANDING there watching him!
As I walked past the stopped bus, trying to figure out why no one was saying anything, the vandalist jogs Read This Posty »

The following quote is from an SFGate article on 6/5/07: "The Tenderloin and Market Street area is a new hotbed of drug dealing,'' said Lt. John Murphy of the homicide detail. He said he has spoken to investigators in police gang and narcotics units about the spike in violence brought on by dealers and customers from outside the city.
WHAT A JOKE! We who live in the Tenderloin have been complaining to the Mayor, City Council and Police for more than two years about the growing drug dealing problem. What have any of them done???? NOTHING! I guess they think it Read This Posty »

Why are there not at least 2 police officers per block WALKING up and down the especially bad areas? (6th & Market, Golden Gate & Jones would be good places to start). Most of the people causing trouble around there aren't even from the neighborhoods, they commute in because they know they can get away with it!

How come that every time I make a call to the SFPD, I am told the reason that I am calling is not a priority (someone breaking into a vehicle, homeless persons assaulting passer-bys, red light runners, etc). Does no one work for the SFPD anymore?

Dear Gavin -
My name is Steve, and I work near the corner of Market and 6th Streets for a publishing company. Currently, we are at the mid-way point of our ten year lease of this sixth story office building. Other tenants include SMWM (Architects), with Radio Shack and House of Blue Jeans on ground level.
Yesterday, I arranged to have Captain Denis O'Leary (SFPD/Southern Station) come speak at a town hall meeting, here at the office, to discuss the many concerns we have regarding this neighborhood. As you know, this particular section of the Central Market Street district, Read This Posty »

Do you see what you have let this once beautiful city become? Do you see the fury that people are beginning to feel about what you have let happen? Some of you have been on the board for almost as long as homelessness has been a problem. And what I remember is that all you could come up with was to fight any real attempt to fix this problem.
Consider Daly right now trying to take money away from the community court idea, not because he actually believes in anything or has any plan of his own, but just to put Read This Posty »

Gavin, you were behind me in line at Walgreen's on Chestnut last year when I told you about my car being stolen out of my driveway. The rest of the story is, I got a delinquent parking ticket, and drove to Sea Cliff where the ticket was issued 6 weeks before. It was parked on the street near the ticket location. I called the police and had it impounded. They obviously did not open the car, because at the tow company the next day, I found in the car: 2 file boxes full of car registrations-at least 200 separate cars Read This Posty »
