I was robbed twice this past year and the police department haven't been able to do anything about it. I read the police log in the local papers and saw that violent crimes related to robberies are on the rise. Couldn't the police send out sketches of the perpetrators to all of the neighborhood newspapers? I would be more than happy to meet with the police and give a detailed description of what the assailants looked like. But the police act like they really don't care anything about my reports because I haven't been physically harmed. Only threatened.

I am afraid to park my car on city streets for fear that my windows will be shattered and my car broken into. I live near 7th & Townsend. There are mounds of broken car glass everywhere, evidence of cars that were vandalized. There are also many other neighborhoods I walk thru and see the same broken glass. Is the Police Department doing anything about these vandals/theifs? I don't want my insurance rates to go even higher plus out-of-pocket expenses due to deductibles.

I live in the Tenderloin (Chris Daly's district, unfortunately) on O'Farrell near Jones. Most every day there is a nexus of "homeless" people and drug dealers gathered on the corner, littering, smoking crack, blocking the sidewalk, and generally bringing the quality of life in the neighborhood down for the rest of us. I've complained to police, but they do nothing. I'd like to see more enforcement in areas where these ne'er-do-wells concentrate. One or two of these people in a spot is one thing, but I often count up to 20 people gathered on this one corner. Get some police Read This Posty »

The latest proposal to reward muni managers for getting their employees to come to work is ridiculous. In a real job, if you don't come to work, you get fired . Only 30% of there employees show up on a regular basis? That means they are redundant. If they are not coming to work ,why are they getting paid? Just eliminate the position. Problem solved. If mangers can't do their job to motivate there workers without getting an extra reward for it, why are they managers? When is SF government going to hold itself accountable to the peopel who pay Read This Posty »

1. Your failure to promote affordable housing in S.F., which results in more commuter traffic, parking & air quality problems.
2. Your failure to appoint people to the commission to effectively address misbehavior by the S.F. police, resulting in harm to the health and welfare of our citizens.

I am one of your constituents and I strongly implore you to not pass any legislation that gives illegal aliens sanctuary or considerations in any form.
What part of the word illegal do you not understand? You have no viable opposition in your current run for Mayor and yet you are courting a Hispanic vote that many LEGAL Hispanics disagree with. What you have done in terms of advocating sanctuary for ILLEGALS and criminals in this my city is comparable to the invitation that Art Agnos, the idiot, did with the homeless. Have you no conscience? What are you going to Read This Posty »

Why is it that the SFPD sets up "traps" on streets like Dolores Street to trap you with a ticket that is complete BS but are never there when you really need them in day to day life in SF for petty crime like packages stolen from my doorstep when I'm at work and when neighbors were held up at gunpoint in the middle of a super safe area of the city?

Mr. Newsom,
Sir, I live in the Tenderloin. Do I really have to explain the problems down here to you? We ask for more of a police presence and nothing happens. The killings over the weekend points up the fact that nothing is being done to curb crime down here.
I remember Diane Feinstein saying she was going to "clean up the Tenderloin" when she was mayor. We are still waiting. I wrote Willie Brown when he was mayor. We are still waiting.
How is it Rudy Giuliani can clean up New York, but San Francisco can't or won't do Read This Posty »

My biggest pet peeve right now is the way you pointlessly pick fights with the Supervisors -- even when they are right, e.g., police on the sidewalks -- just to oppose them. I'd rather you ignored them and tried to get through what you think is right. I'd also like to see more hard decisions, like giving Muni higher much priority over the roads, or opposing the initiative to increase parking discussed in today's Examiner.
Thanks for listening.

Drivers run red lights, turn right on red when pedestrians are in the crosswalk, park on the sidewalk, and generally ignore all traffic laws. We have had too many avoidable deaths already. Start enforcing the laws. If our current police chief can't do it, find one who can.

Cars are broken into, drugs are sold openly on the street, there are numerous prostitutes soliciting, graffiti is rampant. You can call the SFPD, but they won't do anything about it and usually won't even come out! And even if they catch someone, the DA won't prosecute.

For the last two months street work has taken place at this address. There are two large containers full of trash. I would guess most comes from our lovely neighbors. There is paper, clothing, food, etc. scattered all over the street and concentrated around sidewalk trees. There are also two large buckets with standing "water" that have been there for a very long time. Actually, one of the buckets has been knocked over releasing it's contents. I tried calling the SF Public Health dept. and continued to get a message telling me to call back or go to the Internet. Read This Posty »

The non responsibility of the enforcement agencies to stop graffiti from defacing the walls and windows of San Francisco. Recently the criminals have been using acid to etch the windows so we can no longer clean the paint from the window but now have the expense of replacing the window. I equate the damage caused by the acid etching on the window to breaking the window. Recently at 409 Gough Street seven of our windows were defaced with acid and it cost us $1,400.00 to repair the same and have had to coat the windows with a plastic cover, install Read This Posty »

I have just been through this whole pet peeve section and was glad to see that the number one complaint is homeless drunks and junkies. Enough with the so-called "compassion" for these people. We are not helping them and they are ruining the city.
Two days ago I was on a bus and was subjected to a ten minute session of harassment from a drunk who thought I was staring at him. I wasn't, but that didn't matter to his liquor soaked brain.
I am glad we have a mayor who is trying to do something real about this problem, namely Read This Posty »

The guys who steal from the recycle bins we place out on garage day. I have called the police who do nothing but they know who they are.

San Francisco bicycle riders who decide that stop signs, stop lights, speed limits and other traffic controls don't apply to them--and police who look the other way when they see this happen.

Too many police motorcycle officers are assigned to escort dignitaries instead of being on the streets enforcing traffic laws and catching criminals. Does any other Bay Area city use 25 officers to escort people in their jurisdiction? This is police union featherbedding! Gangs and murderers all use cars to commit crimes and I bet they're uninsured, stolen, or have expired plates.

My pet peeve is that the police do nothing about the double parked cars all over the city. It may seem like a minor irritation, but, as a mobile notary, it is very difficult to get around the city. The police could mention to drivers to move on, to not double park. All it would take would be a comment from an officer, not necessarily a ticket which I know they don't usually give. Please make this known to the police and urge the officers to tell people to move on. Many thanks.

Today I tried to leave the city at 9am and couldn't get to two blocks North to cross the barricade for B2Bs. I headed East and called the police who had no idea where the access points in the city were. I went all the way to Embarcadero to find it a parking lot by 9am. Headed West and called another police department who, again, was completely unable to provide info on access. Finally heading to the Great Highway to cross over and learned that there is a 311 number. Upon calling I'm told the Great Highway is closed ... Read This Posty »

Having just seen a report on Ch.7, regarding a lawsuit against the Mayor, and the Cilty of San Francisco, by members of the SFPD involved in the At Work video filming of various" spoofs" with such content as violence to homosexuals, and making fun of different ethnic groups, I could not help having to write this correspondence, and voice my total shock, and anger at such an absurd, and ludicrous notion..... How dare they!! These "people," sworn to protect and serve, and enforce our laws, are guilty of taking part in one of the most embarrassing, hideous, specticles to ever Read This Posty »
