I travel a lot to other major cities in the country, and find the conditions of our city streets to be the worst of them all. And that is just plain embarrassing since we have some of the best weather in the country.
I don't think patching holes is the long term solution. These streets need to be repaved, patching has continued on Cortland for the past two years and no more than a month after the patching in completed the road is in awful condition and in need of repair.

It seems as though a lot of attention is being paid to fixing pot holes and leveling off streets, but not to improving safety standards on the street. If you drive through many neighborhoods, you will see that pedestrian zone paint in the streets, for example, is fading in so many intersections that it is almost impossible to see. Similarly, there are so many crowded and dangerous intersections that need stop lights, not just stop signs. And others that do not even have stop signs. Further, pedestrian safety signage in parts of the city is woefully inadequate. In light of Read This Posty »

In Order of Annoyance:
1. Trash EVERYWHERE
2. Potholes!
3. The state of the public schools in the City/ bussing kids all over the place
4. Graffiti
5. Homeless/panhandlling
6. The high cost/tax usage for "affordable housing"
7. Overhead power lines
It seems there are plenty of things to focus on in here our own city, please leave national politics to guys in D.C.
Thank you!

The lower JFK drive is full of dangerous potholes, and bikers are particularly at risk, and I am one. I know lots of streets need repaving, but I think this is a priority for citizens and tourists. I thank you for the wonderful paving which has been done, like upper JFK near the De Young!

Potholes. Our streets are in terrible disrepair. Those of us who ride bicycles, motorcycles, or small and efficient cars bear the majority of the damage and annoyance. Impassable roads are a great reason to own an SUV. Please fix our streets.

Dear Mayor, The condition of our city streets is a disgrace to this great city. Resurfacing of many streets is long over due and badly needed. I drive down Bush each Am to work the potholes and irregular surface are unacceptable. I recently visited my home town Pgh Penna a city with significant economic hardship in recent years. The infrastructure of the city is well maintained. My wife is from Hamburg Germany and you cannot even begin to compare the well kept streets and absence of graffiti and clean public spaces to SF. What a shame to have let this Read This Posty »

Terrible pavement, potholes and even a pretty deep new sinkhole (not large in diameter -- yet) on Fell, between Octavia and Divisadero. Please repave this busy street!

Many times when I am showing friends around the city they comment on how bad the roads are. How can we call ourselves a world class city when we can't even repair the roads?

Please take a ride up Castro St between 19th and 22nd. We put up with the metal covers over diggings for weeks. Now the metal plates are gone but the fill put into the holes by PG&E or the Water Dept or SOMEBODY is totally unacceptable. The street is like a washboard and it makes the #24 Busride AWFUL!!!! This is just one example of bad road patching that is all over the city. The people who dig up the streets should be required to leave them in good condition.
Thank you

City of Sanctuary? I don't like that. City of Potholes? I don't like that either. I'll vote for whoever fixes both!

The most important is to pave our streets, it is embarrassing to drive tourists around town, almost every single street is in need of repair.

Two big pet peeves:
1) The road conditions are horrible. Many of them need major work. I ride a motorcycle and have almost crashed several time when hitting potholes. Not safe at all.
2) I'm taking a night class in a high school here and am shocked at the conditions of the school - non-working bathroom components; broken tables and chairs everywhere; stuff piled everywhere (definitely a fire hazard and a not good if you're near it during an earthquake); dirty; old outdated equipment. It saddens me that our kids have to put up with conditions like this.

The condition of the roads in this city are deplorable. Is this Baghdad or San Francisco????? I ride a rather expensive car which takes a beating every day just getting across the city. There is one huge, deep pothole right at the exit (where the right turn arrow is pointing) as one leaves the 25th Avenue exit from Golden Gate park. It has been there almost longer the than the homeless who still enter and camp out in the park at that entryway! Where the f*ck are the city workers who should be fixing deep potholes that ruin our vehicles??? Read This Posty »

Gavin,
I love this city and it pains me to see how dirty with trash the streets are, especially compared with cites around the world. Tourism is so important to SF.
The homeless problem is overwhelming. I applaud your efforts to help the situation, but it is still awful.
The last thing, is the horrible conditions of the streets. I wish that we could eliminate some of the holes and damage.
I feel that you have your heart in the right place and that you are doing your best to work under difficult political roadblocks. Originally from DC, I certainly understand how the Read This Posty »

1.) Potholes & bumpy streets (bad for bike-riding).
2.) There should be more N-Judah trains, and Muni in general should be more on time, especially the 33!

Not impressed and in fact quite disappointed in you ............. Stop posing and running for national office and start fixing potholes like a mayor should -

I noticed that there are some holes in the streets around Sunset District, it would be better for drivers if they were filled up. Thanks
