Since when are City Employees ABOVE the LAW?
July 3rd, 2007 7:14 am

MUNI bus drivers seem to think that it's okay for THEM to run the red light, just because they're in City vehicles.  On Saturday evening, around 6 PM, I was at the intersection of Stockton/Washington (in front of Jade Galore Jewelry) with a bunch of other people, waiting to cross.  The walk signal appeared and just as we were about to step off the curb, a MUNI bus that ran the RED light honked at us all to step back.  Naturally, we had to, as the bus was so close to the curb, there was no getting around it.  Since Read This Posty »

Does no one work for the SFPD anymore?
June 18th, 2007 8:05 am

How come that every time I make a call to the SFPD, I am told the reason that I am calling is not a priority (someone breaking into a vehicle, homeless persons assaulting passer-bys, red light runners, etc).  Does no one work for the SFPD anymore? Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Lack of traffic law enforcement
June 9th, 2007 11:24 am

Not stopping at stop signs, running red lights, etc.  Enforcement of these laws would generate more money than it would cost. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

MUNI Busses Running Reds
June 7th, 2007 3:01 pm

So I love MUNI, who doesn't, but honestly the drivers need to be more careful.  About a month ago I saw a 29 blow through a red light.  On May 28th I saw a 38 stopped at it's bus stop, and then when the light was red for over a minute, speed through the red light (which turned green moments later).  We all run red lights once or twice in our lives but to run a red light in San Francisco in a massive, double bus, with dozens of passengers, it is so not okay.  Bus drivers need to be Read This Posty »

Enforce our Traffic Laws in SOMA and all over the City
May 23rd, 2007 1:45 pm

Drivers run red lights, turn right on red when pedestrians are in the crosswalk, park on the sidewalk, and generally ignore all traffic laws.  We have had too many avoidable deaths already.  Start enforcing the laws.  If our current police chief can't do it, find one who can. Muni drivers running red lights
May 8th, 2007 2:58 pm

Muni bus drivers frequently do two things that are both illegal and very dangerous.  First, I repeatedly observe them running red lights. There is nothing more selfish and unnecessary than this, and it puts passengers and other drivers in danger. Second, they clog up intersections by not waiting until they know they can make it through before the light changes. So they end up getting stuck in the middle of the intersection and stopping all the other cars from getting through. Both of these things can be easily remedied by better training and (sadly) police enforcing the traffic laws against Read This Posty »

Red Light Runners at Montgomery and Sutter
April 26th, 2007 8:36 am

My pet peeve is almost getting hit by a car every time i cross the street at Montgomery and Sutter!!!  Whenever I walk through the financial district, I feel that i am taking my life into my own hands.  Cars are constantly running red lights especially at  the previously intersection mentioned.  I think police officers on motorcycles should sit at that light and pull over some of the violators. Red Light and Stop Sign Runners
April 18th, 2007 2:30 pm

Watching redlight and stop sign runners get away time and time again as DPT and SF Police sit by and do nothing.  Stop means stop and yellow does not mean hit the gas!  Get off your cell phones Muni and DPT! Tex Scarborough Read This Posty »

Red Light Runners, Not Pulling Over and Cell Phones
April 8th, 2007 6:47 pm

i have three very important ones i would like to share. 1. red light runners. Even the Muni buses do it. 2. People whom do not pull over for fire trucks, ambulances, and or police cars. 3. people talking on their cell phones while driving (men just as much as women). Karen Fout Read This Posty »

Critical Mass
April 4th, 2007 2:13 pm

Mayor Newsom, I am appalled at the SFGate.com article regarding the mini-van filled with kids that were terrorized by the critical mass ride.  When will this madness end?  Will you step in and squelch these riders?  They run through red lights which clearly show they think they’re above the law.  How are they allowed to go one unimpeded?  Why are the left to disturb the peace of innocent citizens who trying to go about their daily business?  I am not a resident of San Francisco but I am a bay area resident who visits the great city at least once a Read This Posty »

Bad driving!
April 3rd, 2007 2:04 pm

I drive every day and see red light runners, bad driving and braving getting around double parkers without incurring a head-on.  And, 98% of all close calls are people on cell phones who don't stop for stop signs and can't even stay in their own lanes. Too many of these are also SUV's putting my compact car at greater risk. The meter maids are out in full force - how about taking care of real violations that can cause real damage or death?  This would also be great revenue for the City to boot! MUNI BUSES RUNNING LIGHTS AND CROSSWALKS
April 3rd, 2007 12:49 pm

I have noticed a significant number of both Muni and Samtrans buses running red lights and driving through crosswalks full of people.  The drivers know they will never be fired short of running over someone and will be ignored by our non-existent traffic police.  Why not mount some of the same cameras on our city streets downtown that are enjoyed by SF residents in the higher crime neighborhoods.  Random viewing by Muni supervisors should provide enough documentation to get rid of the bad drivers, or at least let them know someone is actually watching. I would start with cameras on Read This Posty »

Running Reds and Homeless

Not stopping at stop signs! Running red lights! The homeless people. I feel for them, but it does not present a good image for the City. Thanks for asking, and you have my vote! Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Ticket Quotas, Education and the Spirit
March 28th, 2007 6:32 am

Recently, I received a traffic citation for running a red light.  This bothered me, not in the usual sense, but in the sense that the officer was obviously wrong.  The act was innocent enough:  I was with a large group of cars on Geary St. heading east when a yellow light came on.  Even though I was at the tail end of the group, I knew I could make it into the intersection without causing a fuss from drivers on the perpendicular 6th street sides.  I made it, easily, but my rear tire didn't clear the second white line of Read This Posty »

Traffic Enforcement and Crime
March 21st, 2007 12:58 pm

Dear Mayor Newsom, Crime is the number one problem in San Francisco and I see no effort to solve it.  I see pedestrians ignore crossing signals preventing cars from making their turns.  I see bicyclists racing down the sidewalk, knocking down anybody too old to get out of their way fast enough.  I see cars run redlights, turn when pedestrians have the right of way and park on our sidewalks.  I see MUNI weaving around double parked cars in the bus lanes.  I see selfish, greedy behaviours that endanger the lives of others. I have never seen anyone get a ticket for Read This Posty »
