I have been living at 540 Jones for 2 yrs.. The Shalimar restaurant and they use mequit charcoal to cook their food. The smoke makes it hard to breath. Next door at the Nile cafe, they use mesquite to lite their hookah's to smoke their tobacco. We have a hard time breathing their smoke too. The fire marshal and police have been notified and nobody does anything. I suppose we don't matter. The police said they don't see the fire pit at the Nie cafe, so I guess it doesn't exist..PLEASE HELP BEFORE WE ARE DEAD FROM SMOKE INHALATION.

We bought a home on Green Street, near Buchanan. Nearly every night there are a dozen very drunken bar-goers who use our bushes as a toilet and then *get in to their cars* and drive away very, very drunk. Sometimes we look out the window to Green Street and can see that they have trouble even opening their car doors and getting in to the driver's seat. And still they drive. Is the Union Street Merchants Association so powerful that the City looks the other way in order to maintain the local restaurant and bar business? Are there noise ordinances
