On September 15, 2004, the Chronicle reported that Newsom promised to move 149 elderly homeless people from the shelters, which he described as "disgraceful," to permanent housing within six months, and, in general, to move the "most vulnerable ... out of the shelter system." Two (plus) years later, city records show that there were 300 homeless seniors (age 60 and older) still in the shelters during January 2007. This is an increase from the 295 homeless seniors in the shelters during December 2004, shortly after Newsom made his promise. Does Newsom believe his promises have any meaning?

The automobile boombox situation is totally out of control. There are growing complaints from office and residence dwellers, as well as from motorists and pedestrians, about the levels of booming noise emanating from these insidious machines. This abominable nuisance, perpetrated by some of the lowest grade morons in the city, has been the subject of editorials and columns in the local media. How bad does the situation have to get before action is taken to stop this abomination?
I live at Eastern Park Apartments, ***Eddy Street, home of around 310 seniors and disabled persons.

AS A LONG TIME (20+YRS) OWNER/MANAGER OF SENIOR & AFFORDABLE HOUSING I KNOW THE IMPORTANCE OF THE FREE WI FI PLAN TO THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO. I DO NOT FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A "POLITICAL GAME" THAT CHRIS DALY IS NOW PLAYING AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR "LOWER INCOME YOUTH" TRYING TO EXPAND THEIR EDUCATION & THE SENIORS ON FIXED INCOME THAT CAN NOT COMMUNICATE WITH FAMILY MEMBERS TO "BRIGHTEN" THEIR LIFE. THE CITY OWES THIS TO OUR COMMUNITY RESIDENTS AT NO COST TO ANYONE. CONTACT WITH CHRIS DALY WOULD PROVE USELESS AS HE ACTS OUT OF SELFISHNESS AND

The bikers, skaters, walkers, etc can use any part of Golden Gate Park any time. Why close the vehicle traffic in the park areas used to go to attractions by disabled, seniors, and tourists? Why not close the west end of the park on weekends to vehicles?

Hello Mayor Newsom,
Thanks for the opportunity to speak with you!
My pet peeve is Muni. I am a native of SF and resident for 59 years. I have never owned a car, so I depend on Muni and BART for local transportation I remember the good old days of Muni, barely. I live in the Mission and commute to SF State. It shouldn't take an hour or longer - - but it often does, especially in off-peak hours. There must be something that BART can teach Muni. I rarely find myself frustrated with BART. I generally find myself frustrated with MUNI.

I am a social worker for Meals on Wheels in SF. The city requires us to do assessments of each senior on our program, which is very important and takes approximately 50 minutes - but many of the parking meters in the Tenderloin only allow for 30 minutes. I do the best that I can and always fill the meter but I just need more time on most occasions. It is very difficult to pay the ticket on a social worker's salary when I am doing what is required of me by the city.

Abuse of the public housing unit on my block (3850 18th Street/255 Dorland Street). It was intended for elderly residents but has recently become a haven for drug dealers. This has attracted drug users to the 200 block of Dorland. The street is also poorly lit, and homeless people camp there during the summer.
