On Saturday I took our 2 year old twins to South Park. Unfortunately, nothing has changed, so we left after 15 minutes.
Two guys were sitting on the bench by the climbing structures, drinking 40 ounce beers. Another collection of homeless/ vagrants at the 3rd street end of the park- shopping carts, etc double parked into the street.
No sun because the trees are still overgrown. Slide has hole in it...etc, etc, etc.
Hopefully South Park is on the list for renovation under the new Bond issue......

I just drove through the park at 5:30 am on the way to work today. Two people sleeping in the park; every garbage can over flowing; the signs, which were to allow the police to ticket those drinking in the park, have still not been installed.
Looks like the City just doesn't care about real, day to day quality of life issues for its residents.

hey gavin,
i have lived near south park for ten years -- had a baby last year and, under pressure, considering the inevitable...leave the city. however, i see hope in SOMA -- new library, playground on the embarcadero, playground on folsom and 7th...etc. why don't you throw the parents here some incentives not to bail out...and a good one would be the planned re-hab of south park...could really help with critical mass not to just give up and cede this district to the homeless...on that note, it is a DRAG living with the huge bum community here....thanks in advance for whatever

Dear Mayor Newsom,
Your proposal for a similar Quality of Life community court system like the one in NYC sounds good. We have been waiting for you to finally get around to addressing quality of life issues for some time now. Actually, we have been waiting for the last four years for you to do something to help us. Your office of community services has ignored us for the last four years, as a matter of fact we do not even know if they know we exist. Our e-mails have gone unanswered by them. So we just gave up trying to
