The intersection @ Diamond & Bosworth (Glen Park) is heavily congested with autos, buses & pedestrians
January 11th, 2008 10:15 am

North bound traffic on Diamond should have at least TWO lanes, so autos can turn left without plugging up the intersection. The area to the right of the only lane is frequently used as an unofficial lane of traffic but it is actually a bus stop. City planners should look at moving the bus stop back so this space could be used as a real traffic lane. Right now, using this area as a lane is causing confusion and it's dangerous to pass cars to the right of a car. People have actually gotten tickets for doing this. Please help Read This Posty »

Critical Mass is Not a Peaceful Protest
October 30th, 2007 11:29 am

I FIND THAT CRITICAL MASS IS OUT OF CONTROL AND THE CITY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT LACK CONTROL OF THIS WHOLE SITUATION. CRITICAL MASS IS NOT A PEACEFUL PROTEST. ALL THEY DO IS CAUSE TRAFFIC AND TROUBLE. THEY DON'T OBEY TRAFFIC LAWS AT ALL. I FEEL IT IS THE GOVERNMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENTS DUTY TO MAKE SURE THEY PROTEST IN A MANNER THAT DOES NOT OFFEND OTHERS. SOMEONE IS NOT DOING THEIR JOB. I CHALLENGE YOU TO TAKE ON THE DUTY OF GETTING THEM UNDER CONTROL. Daniel Read This Posty »

We need a stop sign at the corner of 39th Ave. and Kirkham
October 29th, 2007 10:58 am

(It's now a two-way stop, not four-way). I hear horns honking every day and have seen many  near misses and one accident. It's a blind intersection and dangerous. Do something now. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Traffic design in the city
October 19th, 2007 8:20 am

(1) Three lanes instead of four around the curve in front of Park police station. (2) Inadequate bicycle lanes in downtown. (3) Right-turn conflicts with pedestrians at Market & Van Ness. Fred Merrick Read This Posty »

The attack on people with cars in SF
October 19th, 2007 8:19 am

My suggestion is to enforce existing laws, such as parking meter (no feeding), traffic laws for cars and bicycles (driving in bus lanes, red light runners, stop signs, stopping before turning on a red light), etc. and other things such as pedestrian and bicycle safety, availability of meters and spaces, etc. would improve.  I drive a lot and find no one enforcing any laws.  I believe parking meters are good for retail neighborhoods (2 hour limit), and garages are too expensive and not always available.  Enforcement of existing laws would conceivably pay for itself and bring money into the city Read This Posty »

Jay Walking
August 7th, 2007 2:15 pm

I sent in a pet peeve awhile back, and realized afterward that I referred to the wrong streets.. *blush* I'm really disturbed by the amount of jaywalking and reckless driving on my way home from work, especially around the area of the United Nations Plaza, McAllister/Hyde/8th Street etc. In my earlier message, I proposed building a pedestrian overpass. I'm not sure if that's the best solution, but I wish something could be done about the hair-raising activity there. Between the crazy drivers and the pedestrians that seem to think of the crosswalk and traffic lights as a sort of suggestion, Read This Posty »

Bikers Not Obeying the Law
July 2nd, 2007 8:04 am

Bicyclists want the right of the road although most don't obey the laws of the road such as traffic signals and stop signs, for starters. Fred Read This Posty »

The Lights are Timed, Tell SF
June 26th, 2007 8:20 am

People don't understand that the lights in SF are TIMED. If they don't go the posted speed, they slow everyone down and create road rage. Seattle posts signs that says that the lights are timed and to go the speed limit. How about we copy their approach? Name Withheld Read This Posty »

We NEED a stop sign on the corner of 19th
June 25th, 2007 7:52 am

I live near the intersection of 19th on Dolores street and my peeve is the people who think it is a freeway from the light at 20th to the light at 18th. We NEED a stop sign on the corner of 19th. People speed down this street everyday. This is the center entrance to the park on the east side and tons of pedestrians with dogs and many with children cross here every day and night. I have lived in this building for over seven years and am surprised how few citations I have seen given. Every once in a Read This Posty »

Pedestrians darting out from behind parked cars
June 21st, 2007 8:37 am

As a driver, I have noticed that SF pedestrians very often will walk or run out into the middle of the street, right into the flow of traffic, usually without even looking! I see this at least 3 times every morning, usually 5. I know pedestrians have the right of way, but these people seem to have lost their sense of self-preservation. As a NYC transplant, I grew up with a healthy fear of being hit by a three ton chunk of metal traveling at 40 mph, so I look both ways before crossing, especially when jaywalking! No driver deliberately Read This Posty »

Too many cars!
June 20th, 2007 7:15 am

There is more than one way to get around and SF needs to look towards the Dutch for bike lanes (Actual lanes separated by curb action, so it is harder for the agro motorists to take people out). This city needs less cars, we already know that the pollution from them sucks, they are load, and this city needs to keep being PROGRESSIVE!!! And IMAGINE, the Panhandle, a quiet park, with healthy air. Yum! Gavy if you haven't done it yet take that trip to the NETHERLANDS, smoke a fatty and check out what they have going on. Thanks! Pedestrians standing off the curb at a red light impeding the flow of vehicle traffic
June 15th, 2007 7:23 am

When they stand way out in the vehicle traffic lanes like that, vehicles cannot safely make legal right (or left) turns without fear of hitting the pedestrian.  Vehicle traffic would flow much more smoothly if pedestrians would obey the laws too. Another peeve is pedestrians walking against red lights.  Vehicles are ticketed for running red lights, why not pedestrians?  All this talk of "pedestrian rights" is admirable, however no consideration is given to drivers who are driving to obey the laws, only to see pedestrians flaunt them repeatedly without punishment. MUNI Reliability and Availability
June 14th, 2007 8:58 am

It is frustrating to get around in this city. I've contemplated buying a car just to get from point A to point B on time, and it seems like our MUNI woes are recursive. People can't get where they want to go in a reliable manner so they use cars which clog the streets and make it harder for MUNI drivers to navigate which makes the busses later which makes more people opt for cars... I also believe that reliable public transit would help on a number of other fronts. People who are in economic hardship are likely to be forced Read This Posty »

Uncontrollable Halloween Party
June 8th, 2007 10:00 am

Mayor: I am not an advocate for what you call marriage equality (gay marriage). I am not an advocate of the Bay to Breakers Race on Sunday mornings blocking traffic. Please consider having it on Saturdays instead. I am not an advocate for the uncontrollable Halloween Party in the Castro District. I am not an advocate of the Critical Mass (bicyclist) blocking traffic the last Friday of each month. I do however appreciate what you are attempting to do with your other projects of establishing WiFi in the city, Universal Health Care, Getting Muni on time, Services to the Bayview and Hunter's Read This Posty »

Removal of left-hand turn lane on eastbound Oak Street at Masonic
June 7th, 2007 1:59 pm

There used to be a left-hand turn lane, at least during commute hours, but maybe 7x24.   This was changed maybe a year ago to add parking?!?!?  Now traffic backs up onto Oak.   This is DANGEROUS.  We need the turn lanes and we need traffic to move with green lights (also more fuel efficient).
