Piles of Trash at Caltrain Station on 22nd
August 12th, 2007 9:40 am

We live in the Dogpatch neighborhood.  I was at the Caltrain station on 22nd on Sat and there was trash everyone, including piles of trash.  I can't believe anyone would leave piles of trash around, but since people do, I think the City should make a priority of picking up such trash. No Public Trash Cans
August 10th, 2007 12:00 pm

Why is the City removing public trash cans?? Two have been removed from my street alone. What are we supposed to do with paper wrappers and other misc items we don't want to carry with us? Now people are being forced to litter the streets. Please bring back the public trash cans! Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Trash on the Streets
August 9th, 2007 3:04 pm

People who dump their belongings and trash on sidewalks and all over the city. There should be "trash police" monitoring high dumpage areas and start giving tickets. People should take their refuge to the dump! It is very unsightly and make neighborhoods look terrible. Another pet peeve is the graffiti that's everywhere! There needs to be more police out at night catching there taggers. San Francisco has become a very dirty city in general. It's very sad. Catherine Mastropoalo Read This Posty »

Trash on the Streets
August 7th, 2007 2:13 pm

The neighborhoods are filthy because of trash being dumped. I can see why because the scavengers make it so difficult for people to get things recycled that they give up and dump on the beautiful streets of S.F. Carol Volk Read This Posty »

People Dumping Trash on Corners
August 5th, 2007 2:39 pm

People dumping trash on corners. I believe what needs to be done is Sunset Scavenger or some recycling agency needs to go to schools and teach children the benefit of keeping the city clean. Let the kids teach the parents not to dump on city streets. Then the city should send out pamphlets every 6 months telling citizens the proper way of disposing trash. Also there seems to be an epidemic of people throughout the city taking everyones recycling. I have been awakened by my dog barking at the person at 5AM. The person did not care, Read This Posty »

Drunks are poor because they’re drunks
July 26th, 2007 8:23 am

In April a comment on a post here contained this sentence: Cops should be giving 100% of their attention to violent crime, not making things look shiny and hiding the realities of poverty. Why do so many people complain about this? I fail to see the logic, and no, I'm not high at the moment." Leaving aside the unfounded assumption that drunks in the street are really just unfairly targeted poor people rather than drunks who are poor because they're drunks, there is the wonderfully helpful concept of "The Tipping Point". Five years ago, there were no "homeless" in my neighborhood. Then Read This Posty »

The only people really welcome here are drunks and junkies
July 25th, 2007 8:06 am

I guess it was inevitable despite our efforts to keep the bums out of our neighborhood, there is one now regularly sleeping in front of our building. I called the Police General Dispatch and got a self-righteous little jerk (Dispatcher 80, I believe) who began to lecture me that homelessness is not a crime. Yeah, like I was calling because the person is homeless. No, I was calling because the person trashes the front of our building and uses the back for a toilet. But that didn't matter to this dispatcher as he was well versed in the lies-designed-to-shame-critics crafted Read This Posty »

Can MUNI police actually get real work to do like watching for our safety?
July 24th, 2007 7:12 am

In my continuing frustration walking to and from the Powell Street MUNI/Bart Station to my place of work near Union Square, a friend let me know about this website.  Frankly, I am doubtful this will help, but will give it a try.  For me, and thousands of others who have to use this station to get to work, this becomes representative of what San Francisco is like to LIVE in.  Unfortunately, I do not have the good fortune of working around the Montgomery Station or Embarcadero.  Every day without fail, I am treated to what is like a human toilet Read This Posty »

Smokers and their Butts
July 23rd, 2007 7:57 am

Smokers in general, but especially those that throw their cigarette butts on the ground, and people who litter - San Francisco is not your personal trash can! Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Please return the trash cans to Clement Street’s Innner Richmond District
July 18th, 2007 9:14 am

The extra clean patrol really helped the street litter problem. Since the trash cans have been removed, there is much more litter on the streets, thus creating more work for the Clean Patrol. If trash cans were available people would not just drop their litter on the sidewalk. Thanks Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Not Enough Cans at 7th St. between Mission & Market Streets
July 18th, 2007 9:13 am

Instead of less garbage cans, we need more in certain downtown areas, such as 7th Street between Mission & Market Streets.  There are none at all and there is always bottles and paper in the street and sidewalk. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Homeless at Hallidie Plaza
July 13th, 2007 7:38 pm

I'm sitting here looking out my apartment window at the gang of 5 or 6 homeless who have made camp in Hallidie Plaza by the Powell St. BART station.  They're there when I go to work, when I go to school, when I go to dinner, when I go to catch a train, when I come home from work, when I come home from school, when I look out my window. Their bags and garbage and guitars and skateboards strewn about the plaza.  Their litter blowing all over the place in the wind.  I see people shooting up in the plaza, Read This Posty »

Homeless Doing Drugs in Front of My House
July 9th, 2007 7:50 pm

There is a guy that lives in his van right out in front of my house. Homeless people pull up with there shopping carts and do drugs with the owner of this van. This van takes up two parking spaces (where parking is limited) and does not move for days and his garbage is thrown about outside of his van. I want to know why this guy can live out in the front of my house and can do as he wishes? I have called the police uncountable times and they can't seem to get these guy out of here!!!!! Trash piling up in the city streets
July 6th, 2007 7:25 am

My pet peeve is seeing the trash piling up in the city streets. I don't understand the rationale to remove public trash cans in an already filthy city. Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Missing Cans

Garbage cans, why on this earth did you remove them? More trash and litter on the streets? Do we really want that? I think not! Name Withheld Read This Posty »

Lucky Alley Stinks to High Heaven
July 2nd, 2007 8:08 am

Now its been a month since lucky alley has been cleaned.  It's full of trash and other crap and filthy and stinks to high heaven. I guess folks in the mission just go with the luck of the draw.  I think i might just start throwing my garbage out the window along with the rest of  the trash out there. It also needs a power wash as the lovely homeless folks use it for a toilet. So goes life in the ghetto. Ron Norlin Read This Posty »

Trash and MUNI
June 29th, 2007 7:25 am

Sorry to come across sounding brash, but are you absolutely NUTS?! One of the very first things I noticed out here 4 YEARS AGO when I moved here from NY, was the apparent lack of trash cans and pay phones (on every corner back east). I realize most people now use cell phones, but to even suggest that removing some of the trash cans is the way to clean up the city...is purely and completely INSANE! People throw trash on the ground because they cannot FIND a can within 4 blocks usually. As for Muni...less stops isn't the answer, as Read This Posty »

“Gatherings” at Dolores Park
June 28th, 2007 8:27 am

Inadequate restroom facilities, garbage collection, illegal parking. Apparently it is acceptable to expect the city's taxpayers (home owners) to "underwrite" these events- events I am more than happy to embrace, if it were not for the trampling of MY neighborhood every single time. What's up with that? Name Withheld Read This Posty »
