Here’s an idea.. make sure the police actually do their job. I just came from watching an all-out brawl at Hallidie Plaza/Powell Street BART/MUNI station. I viewed this out of my apartment window which overlooks the plaza.
I didn’t call the police because I saw 2-3 BART police (or some other type of uniformed officer) come out of the BART station and watch the fighting. I assumed they were just calling the police or for backup and waiting for them to arrive. But they just stood there and did nothing.
Half an hour later, the police have finally arrived and I see 6-7 police cars around the plaza and dozens of officers standing around talking… while the offenders are still roaming around freely in the plaza and eventually escaping into the BART station. The police still casually standing around talking. I saw two thugs throwing chairs at each other on Market Street where the people play chess right in front of 3 parked police cars. I saw the police make no move to arrest the people responsible, but there were plenty of officers casually standing around the plaza talking to each other.
Another 10 minutes goes by.. most of the offenders have made their way into the BART station… 5 or 6 police officers finally casually take a stroll down to the BART station. I assume no arrests were made, and no one is held responsible, because the police re-emerged from the station with no one.
In addition to this, every time I’ve been in a police station in the city to file reports about my car being broken into (which has been more than I’d like to, and every time INSIDE a city-owned parking garage) I see dozens of officers standing around doing nothing.
Why is it the policy of the San Francisco police department to take law enforcement so casually while thugs roam our streets breaking the law?
Gavin and the SFPD need to get off their butts and do their jobs because there are lots of LAW ABIDING and VOTING San Franciscans who are tired of this crap happening in our neighborhoods.
Gavin’s policy promoting illegal immigration and allowing critical massers to roam the streets breaking the law are NO DIFFERENT than advocating brawls in Hallidie Plaza of gang members. The message is: You don’t have to follow laws you don’t like as long as you have a large enough group of people. A gang of bicyclists, illegal aliens, or gang members - the message is the same.
Gavin: Make a statement that San Francisco is a city that values the rule of law and hold the police apartment responsible for doing their job!
