I am S.F. born and raised and have had many ideas but don’t know if they are feasible with all the political machines involved but here it goes.
First – Could someone, working between different depts. in the city, start a job program as a paid trainee exempt. position at say min. wage- for unemployed to do the work of interest, learn the job for experience, and be paid? Example a employed City Gardener trains the person on site- the weeds get pulled , grass trimmed, hedges, etc. which does not seem to be the case all the parks and playgrounds I HAVE VISITED- the city gets less expensive assistance and the interested person gets experience and a little confidence perhaps many things. This type of on the job training can benefit many who are without necessary skills to apply for jobs they want to do but can’t afford to go through a vocational school.
Second — Maybe someone could periodically clean the drains around the city streets and freeways some of the median side freeway drains have weeds growing from them-I don’t think the divider on our freeways was meant for the trash that you can always see there and I AM CONSTANTLY irritated by the lack of concern people have for their public spaces which includes roads, parks, streets (but that is again a harder problem).
Third — I hope the City itself is staying constant in recycling the tons of paper, etc. that goes through their depts.
This is off the top of my head but I have to sign off. Thanks for the vent.
