The MTA needs to start enforcing SEC. 28.1 of the traffic code; "It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a vehicle with gross weight in excess of 6,000 pounds upon the streets designated in Sections 28.1.1 et seq. of this Code." The fine per violation is set at $100. This could be enforced by cross referencing the VIN with the GVW if the vehicle receives a ticket. Or MTA enforcement could start actively looking for vehicles that are over the weight limit.
