Modernizing the MUNI transfers to be machine read and uncheatable like the AC Transit transfers are. This would surely shore up much of the funding shortage that has plagued MUNI. Improved financial sustainability would allow a reversal of cuts in service that cause MUNI commuters to suffer. Most MUNI bus drivers don’t even look at your transfer, or your MUNI pass. Also, many people sell the transfers. Some drivers don’t tear the paper transfers to cause them to expire at the correct time.
